• Operator selection to set the phone to automatically select a cellular
operator that is available in your area (Automatic) or to select the
desired operator from a list (Manual).
If the operator only provides access to a GSM network, the icon
is shown beside the operator name. If the operator only provides
access to a WCDMA network, the icon is . If the operator provides
access to both a GSM and WCDMA network, the icon is .
The selected operator must have a roaming agreement with your
home network. If no such agreement exists, No network access will be
displayed and you must select another operator.
The phone stays in manual mode until automatic mode is selected or
another SIM card is inserted into the phone.
• Confirm SIM service actions to set the phone to show confirmation
messages (Yes) when you use SIM card services. See also SIM services
(Menu 15).
• Help text activation to set the phone to show help texts that guide
you in using the menu functions. See also Using the menu
.
• Start-up tone to set the phone to play a tone when the phone is
switched on.
• Memory status to view the total amount of free and used shared
memory and the amount of memory used by different functions. See
also Shared memory.
Display settings
To access this menu, press Menu in standby mode, and select Settings and
Display settings. Select
• Wallpaper to set the phone to show a background image when the
phone is in standby mode.
The wallpaper images can be found in the Gallery menu. You can save
new images from received multimedia messages, download them
from browser pages, or transfer them with Nokia PC Suite from your
PC. Photos taken with the camera can be used as wallpaper.
To set an image as the wallpaper, do either of the following:
• To select the wallpaper image for the first time or to change the
