Chapter 4: Getting Started
This chapter shows you how to connect up, switch on, set up and configure the
DL471 DSP unit.
Connecting up
Connect up the following to the rear panel of your DL471 DSP unit:
AES50: connect the cables from the AES50 audio sockets (bank 0 or bank 1)
from the X and Y routers to the appropriate AES50 audio X and Y sockets on the
unit.
Ethernet: connect the cables from the Ethernet control sockets on the X and Y
routers to the appropriate X and Y Ethernet control sockets on the unit.
Mains power supply: insert the IEC connector of the mains cable into the rear of
the unit and then plug it into the mains power outlet.
link: connect the ten DL471 DSP units together via the two 25-way sockets on the
rear panel of each unit (see “To daisy chain the DSP units” on page 44).
Switching the unit on/off
After you have connected up your DL471 DSP units, they are ready to be switched on.
To switch on a DL471 DSP unit, switch on the mains on/off switch on the rear of the
unit.
To switch off a DL471 DSP unit, press the mains on/off switch.
Setting up
Initial setting up of a DL471 DSP unit involves allocating an ID for it within the XL8
network system environment (see “To set up the unit’s ID number” on page 13).
Configuration
Configure the DL471 DSP unit to suit your operating requirements (see Chapter 5
“Programming Mode”).
