California Inhalation Reference Exposure Level (REL): California established a chronic REL of 3
g for silica (crystalline, respirable). A chronic REL is an airborne level of a substance at or below which no
adverse health eects are anticipated in individuals indenitely exposed to the substance at that level.
Massachusetts Toxic Use Reduction Act: Silica, crystalline (respirable size, <10 microns) is “toxic”
for purposes of the Massachusetts Toxic Use Reduction Act.
