Warning and Safety instructions This wine conditioning unit complies with all current local and national safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and material damage. Read the operating and installation instructions carefully before using the wine conditioning unit. They contain important information on safety, installation, use and maintenance. This is to protect yourself from injury, and from damaging your wine conditioning unit.
Warning and Safety instructions Correct application This wine conditioning unit is intended for use in the home and in similar environments, for example – in shops, offices and similar work settings – by the guests in hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts and other typical home settings. This wine conditioning unit is not intended for outdoor use. The wine conditioning unit is intended for domestic use only for storing wine. It must not be used for any other purpose.
Warning and Safety instructions Safety with children Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from the wine conditioning unit unless they are constantly supervised. Children aged 8 and older may only use the wine conditioning unit without supervision if they have been shown how to use it in a safe manner. Children must be able to understand and recognise the possible dangers caused by incorrect operation.
Warning and Safety instructions Technical safety The refrigerant circuit has been checked for leaks. The wine conditioning unit complies with statutory safety requirements and the appropriate EU directives. This wine conditioning unit contains the coolant Isobutane (R600a), a natural gas which is environmentally friendly. The coolant does not damage the ozone layer and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
Warning and Safety instructions To avoid the risk of damage to the wine conditioning unit, make sure that the connection data (fuse rating, frequency and voltage) on the data plate corresponds to the household supply. Check that this is the case before connecting the wine conditioning unit. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt. The electrical safety of the wine conditioning unit can only be guaranteed when correctly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety requirement is met.
Warning and Safety instructions If moisture gets into electrical components, it could cause a short circuit. Therefore, do not operate this wine conditioning unit in areas which are exposed to moisture (e.g in a garage or utility room). This wine conditioning unit must not be used in a non-stationary location (e.g. on a ship).
Warning and Safety instructions This wine conditioning unit is supplied with a special lamp to cope with particular conditions (e.g. temperature, moisture, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance and vibration). This lamp must only be used for the purpose for which it is intended. The lamp is not suitable for room lighting. Replacement lamps may only be fitted by a Miele authorised technician or by the Miele Customer Service Department.
Warning and Safety instructions Accessories and spare parts Only use original Miele accessories. If other parts are used, warranty, performance and product liability claims will be invalidated. Miele will guarantee to supply functional spare parts for a minimum of 10 years and up to 15 years following the discontinuation of your wine unit.
Warning and Safety instructions Cleaning and care Do not use any oils or grease on the door seals, as these will cause the seals to deteriorate and become porous with time. Do not use a steam cleaning appliance to clean this wine conditioning unit. The steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit. Sharp edged or pointed objects will damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the wine conditioning unit.
Caring for the environment Disposal of the packing material Disposing of your old appliance The packaging is designed to protect the wine conditioning unit from damage during transportation. The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled. Electronic and electrical appliances contain many valuable materials.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Location This appliance should be installed in a dry, well-ventilated room. When deciding where to install your wine conditioning unit, please bear in mind that it will use more energy if installed near to a heater, a cooker or another appliance that gives off heat. Direct sunlight should also be avoided. The higher the room temperature, the longer the compressor runs and the higher the energy consumption of the wine conditioning unit is.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Climate range Impaired functionality due to The wine conditioning unit is designed for use within a certain climate range (ambient temperatures) and should not be used outside this range. The climate range of the wine conditioning unit is stated on the data plate inside it. high humidity and high temperature. The wine conditioning unit is very heavy and can tip forwards when the appliance door is open. Keep the appliance door shut until the wine conditioning unit has been built in and secured in its building-in niche in accordance with these operating and installation instructions. Due to its weight and size, the wine conditioning unit must be installed by two people.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Door hinge Risk of damage and injury when changing the door hinge. Changing the door hinge singlehandedly can cause damage to the appliance and injury. The wine conditioning unit is supplied with fixed hinges. Under no circumstances should you attempt to change the door hinges yourself. If you need to change the door hinges to the other side, please contact the Customer Service Department. . . .
*INSTALLATION* Installation When planning building-in niches, please note that the niche into which the appliance with the side panel heater is installed must be 4 mm wider (see “Installation – Installation dimensions”). The wine conditioning unit should be installed by a suitably qualified installer in accordance with these operating and installation instructions.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Weight of the furniture front Aligning the building-in niche Before fitting a furniture front, ensure that the weight of the furniture front does not exceed the maximum permitted weight: Wine conditioning Max. weight of unit the furniture front KWT 26x2 Vi(S) 73 kg If the furniture front is too heavy, this can cause damage. Fitting a furniture front which is heavier than the maximum permitted weight could damage the hinges.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Checking the building-in niche Before installation Check the installation dimensions (see “Installation – Installation dimensions”). Before installation, remove any accessories from the back of the appliance. Check the position of the electrical connection. The length of the electrical connection cable is 3 m. The electrical socket must not be concealed behind the appliance and must be easily accessible in an emergency.
*INSTALLATION* Installation To protect the floor when installing the wine conditioning unit, secure an off-cut of flooring or similar material to the floor in front of the installation area. 2 Unscrew the fixing brackets . Do not remove the installation aids from the appliance door. These will be required later for aligning the appliance in the building-in niche. The wine conditioning unit is very heavy and can tip forwards when the appliance door is open. The building-in niche must be secured to the wall behind it and/or above it with several screws. Only this can ensure that the wine conditioning unit will not tip over after being installed in the building-in niche.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Danger of injury and damage to the appliance due to the wine conditioning unit tipping over. If the anti-tip brackets are fixed too high up, they cannot be used to secure the wine conditioning unit. There must not be more than 8 mm between the anti-tip brackets and the wine conditioning unit. The accessory pack supplied contains fixing screws for various applications/materials.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Securing with a wooden wedge Secure the building-in niche to the wall behind it and/or above it as required using the anti-tip brackets . Carefully guide a flat-head screwdriver through the grate in the plinth on both sides and use it to push the internal plastic latches outwards to release the plinth. Place the plinth to one side.
*INSTALLATION* Installation The electrical socket should be close to the wine conditioning unit and easily accessible. Risk of damage due to electrical overload. If the wine conditioning unit is electrically overloaded, this can cause a short circuit and therefore damage to your appliance. When you install appliances side by side, each appliance must have its own separate electrical socket.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Furniture front thickness of 38 mm The adjustable feet at the front and back of the appliance can all be adjusted from the front of the appliance. Risk of damage due to incorrect feet adjustment. You may damage the adjustable feet if you use a cordless screwdriver. Always adjust the front and rear feet by hand. 32 Position the supplied spacers on both sides on the markings next to the adjustable feet at the front of the wine conditioning unit.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Adjust the rear feet with a ratchet (attachment: socket, 8 mm) or a TX 20 screwdriver . Adjust the front feet with a ratchet (attachment: socket, 8 mm) or a TX 20 screwdriver . Tip: Proceed carefully when adjusting the feet, alternating between the left and right feet.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Place a spirit level across the installation aids on the appliance door to check the wine conditioning unit's alignment. Securing the wine conditioning unit in the building-in niche Unscrew the adjustable feet and on both sides at least until the marking on the plinth has reached the specified distance of 32 mm on the spacer . The standard dimension of 32 mm relates to a niche height of 2134 mm.
*INSTALLATION* Installation If it is not possible to secure the wine conditioning unit at the top, it can be attached to the building-in niche with the side fixing plates: Open the appliance door. Screw the fixing plate lugs at the top and bottom to the cabinets/units adjacent to the appliance. Open out the side fixing lugs . Screw the side fixing lugs to the adjacent cabinets/units.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Preparing to install the furniture fronts Open the appliance door as far as it will go. Unscrew the angle trims from both sides of the appliance door and place the trims and screws to one side – they will be required later. Close the appliance door. Unscrew the installation aids from the appliance door.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Measure the gap X between the mounting frame and the upper edge of the adjacent furniture front. Place the furniture front on a firm surface, with the external side facing downwards (place on a blanket or similar to prevent it from becoming scratched). Mark the distance X -3 mm on the inner side of the furniture front. Also locate and mark the centre point Y on the furniture front.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Secure the mounting frame to the top of the furniture front, using at least 6 screws. The mounting frame has several different types of holes to take account of a variety of furniture fronts. When securing the frame, always screw into the strongest part of the furniture front. To do this, select screws which are slightly shorter than the thickness of the furniture front.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Securing and aligning the furniture front Open the appliance door and hang the furniture front on its frame onto the threaded bolts . Press the angle trims into the white plastic frame on both sides from the outside and screw them on loosely at first. Spare screws are provided in the plastic bag marked with the letter E. Place the spacers on top of the corners of the furniture front on both sides.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Close the appliance door and check the distance between the door and adjacent furniture fronts again. Align the depth of the furniture front via the gaps in the angle trims . Place the washers and nuts back in position and tighten the nuts . The furniture front is now secured. Now tighten the screws in the angle trims . Align the height and sides of the furniture front using the threaded bolts . 40 Open the appliance door.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Mounting the fixing brackets The fixing bracket is used to secure the furniture front to the bottom of the appliance door. Do not mount the fixing brackets until the wine conditioning unit (or side-byside combination, if applicable) has been installed and the furniture fronts have been aligned. Open the appliance door as far as it will go. Slide the fixing bracket from the outside onto the screw at the bottom of the appliance door.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Tighten the screw at the bottom of the appliance door. Click the covers onto the fixing bracket. Securing the covers Before the cover can be installed in the gap above the wine conditioning unit, it must be assembled as follows: Fit the cover over the fixing bracket .
*INSTALLATION* Installation Insert the two parts of the cover into one another. Installing the cover in a side-by-side combination Insert the pin (from the side-by-side installation kit) halfway into the channel in the cover for the left-hand appliance. Cover viewed from the side Place the second cover onto the pin and press the two covers together. Click the two covers together into the gap above the appliances.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Fit the cover onto the light contact switch. Secure both sides of the wine conditioning unit using at least 3 clips for the covers. Now attach the covers onto the retaining clips on each side. In the case of side-by-side installation, the covers are only required on the outer side. 44 Fitting the door trim Cut the door trim to the width of the cut-out in the furniture front as required.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Securing the plinth ventilation grille and plinth panel Click the plinth ventilation grille onto the bottom of the plinth. Trim the long pieces of door trim for the right and left sides to the length required X. Fit the door trim into the gap between the furniture front and the glass. If necessary, cut the plinth panel to the required length and height (cut along the lower edge of the plinth where it touches the floor).
*INSTALLATION* Installation Limiting the opening angle of the appliance door The door hinges on the wine conditioning unit are set ex-works to enable the appliance door to be opened wide. If the appliance door hits an adjacent wall when opened, for example, the opening angle can be limited to 90°. Open the appliance door. Insert the pin into the lower hinge from above. This will limit the opening angle of the appliance door to 90°.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Electrical connection The refrigeration appliance must only be connected to an earthed socket using the mains connection cable supplied. The socket must be easily accessible after the refrigeration appliance has been installed. If the socket is not easily accessible, ensure that a suitable means of disconnection is provided on the installation side for each pole. Risk of fire from overheating.
*INSTALLATION* Installation Make sure that the plug connector has clicked into position correctly. Insert the plug of the wine conditioning unit into the socket. The wine conditioning unit is now connected to the electricity supply.

Initial commissioning Before using for the first time Allow the wine conditioning unit to stand for approx. 1 hour before connecting it to the power supply. This will prevent potential functional problems with the wine conditioning unit. Packaging material Remove all packaging material from the inside of the appliance. Always remove all packaging material, including adhesive tape, before switching on the wine conditioning unit. The adhesive tape is difficult to remove from cold surfaces.
Initial commissioning Miele@home Your wine conditioning unit is equipped with an integrated WiFi module. Networking is deactivated at the factory. You will need: - A WiFi network - The Miele@mobile app toys). This can give rise to sporadic or even complete connection failures. Switch the wine conditioning unit on by pressing the On/Off switch. The wine conditioning unit will start to cool and the interior lighting will come on when the appliance door is opened.
Switching on and off Switching off for longer periods of time If the wine unit is not going to be used for a longer period of time: Switch the wine unit off. Switch off at the wall and withdraw the plug from the socket, or disconnect the fuse. Clean the wine unit. Leave the door ajar to air the wine unit and avoid odours building up inside it. If the wine unit is switched off, but not cleaned, during a long absence and the door is left shut, there is a risk of mould building up inside the appliance.
Selecting additional settings In Settings mode , you can select different wine conditioning unit functions and alter their settings to some extent, allowing you to adjust the appliance to suit your requirements. Only the functions in Settings mode that require further explanation are described below. The door alarm and other warnings are automatically disabled when the appliance is in Settings mode .
Selecting additional settings Performing a Self test Perform a Self test if you are concerned that your wine conditioning unit is not working properly and want to check if it is suffering from any problems. In Settings mode , use the and sensor controls to select Self test and select OK to confirm your selection. Touch the sensor control if you wish to terminate the process. The Self test starts and the wine conditioning unit is checked for any faults or malfunctions.
Selecting additional settings Switching on Push2open In Settings mode , use the and sensor controls to select Door assistant and select OK to confirm your selection. Use the and sensor controls to select Mode and select OK to confirm your selection. Use the and sensor controls to select Push2open and select OK to confirm your selection. Touch the sensor control to return to the previous menu level. – Adjusting the intensity You can also adjust the intensity of the Push2open function.

The lower the set intensity, the less force required when you pull the appliance door. In Settings mode , use the and sensor controls to select Door assistant and select OK to confirm your selection. Connect your wine appliance as described in “Before using for the first time”. In Settings mode , use the and sensor controls to select Miele@home and select OK to confirm your selection. Use the and sensor controls to select Set up again and select OK to confirm your selection. Reset configuration? will appear on the display.
Selecting additional settings Resetting the settings to their default settings You can reset the wine conditioning unit‘s settings to their default settings. Reset the settings to the default settings when disposing of your wine conditioning unit, selling it, or putting a used wine conditioning unit into operation. This will reset the network configuration so that all personal data is deleted from the wine conditioning unit.

Selecting additional settings Switching Sabbath mode on or off The wine conditioning unit offers a Sabbath mode for the purposes of religious observance. - The sensor control for Settings mode so that Sabbath mode can be switched off. The Sabbath mode function will switch itself off automatically after approx. 125 hours. When Sabbath mode is switched on, you cannot make any settings on your wine conditioning unit.
Selecting additional settings Switching the Ambient lighting on or off Selecting the intensity of the Ambient lighting The Ambient lighting can be switched on so your wines are on display even when the appliance door is closed. The interior lighting now remains on even when the appliance door is closed. You can set the intensity of the Ambient lighting in Settings mode . Each wine conditioning zone has its own light so that your wine conditioning unit is lit up to maximum effect.
Selecting additional settings Risk of injury from LED lighting. Selecting the Ambient display This lighting corresponds to risk group RG 2. If the cover is defective, there is a danger of eye injury. If the lighting cover is defective, do not look from a close range directly into the lighting with optical instruments (e.g. magnifying glass or similar). You can choose what the display should look like when the appliance door is closed.
The ideal temperature and humidity Wine keeps on maturing depending on the surrounding conditions. The length of time for which wine can be kept in good condition will therefore depend not only on the temperature but also on the air quality.
The ideal temperature and humidity Setting the temperature Temperature range Touch the sensor control to set the temperature. In all three wine conditioning zones, it is possible to set temperatures between 5 °C and 20 °C. The previously set temperatures for the 3 wine conditioning zones are displayed. Use the and sensor controls to select the wine conditioning zone for which you want to adjust the temperature and select OK to confirm your selection.
The ideal temperature and humidity Increasing the humidity If you have set a higher level of humidity, the fans will switch on automatically. This will distribute the humidity and the temperature evenly around the wine conditioning unit so that you can store all your wine under the same excellent conditions. The fans switch off automatically when the appliance door is opened and remain switched off for as long as it is kept open. Touch the sensor control to set the temperature.
Door alarm Door alarm An alarm will sound if the appliance door has been left open for longer than 2 minutes. The message Close the door will also appear on the display. As soon as the appliance door is closed, the alarm tone will stop and the message in the display will go out. Switching the door alarm off early If the alarm disturbs you, it can be turned off early. Touch the OK sensor control. The alarm will stop and the message will disappear from the display.
Storing wine bottles Vibration and movement have a negative effect on the maturing process, which can in turn affect the taste of the wine. To avoid disturbing other bottles when removing a bottle of wine, store bottles of the same type beside each other on the same shelf. Avoid stacking bottles on top of one another on the wooden shelves. Always place the bottles in a horizontal position so that the natural corks can be kept moist on the inside and air is prevented from getting into the bottles.
Storing wine bottles Wooden shelves Adjusting the wooden shelves The slats in the wooden shelves can be individually adjusted to suit, so that every bottle is stored in perfect safety regardless of shape or size. The wooden shelves are on telescopic runners which can be pulled out to make it easier to store and remove bottles. Moving the wooden shelves Simply lift individual slats to move or remove them from the wooden shelves. The wooden shelves can be removed and replaced again if required.
Storing wine bottles Labelling wooden shelves For quick and easy identification of the wines stored, you can write on the blackboard-painted surface on the strips on the wooden shelves. SommelierSet Setting up the SommelierSet The SommelierSet can be used to have the wine in your wine conditioning unit ready for drinking. You can store wine glasses and accessories, decant your wine and store open bottles in the wine conditioning unit. Place the large accessory box on the left and the small accessory box on the right on the wooden shelf. SommelierSet Insert the two racks into the glass holder . Pull the runners above the bottom shelf out as far as they will go on both sides. Slide the retainers into the bottle holder . Position the glass holder on the runner on the left and the bottle holder on the runner on the right. Check that the pins on the runners engage in the mounts on the both the glass holder and the bottle holder. Push the glass holder and the bottle holder all the way into the unit.
Automatic defrosting The wine conditioning unit defrosts automatically.
Cleaning and care Do not let water get into the electronic unit or the lighting. Risk of damage due to moisture ingress. The steam from a steam cleaner can damage plastic and and electrical components. Do not use a steam cleaner to clean the wine conditioning unit. The data plate located inside the wine conditioning unit must not be removed. It contains information which is required in the event of a service call.

Mildew can begin to form on the labels, depending on the type of label adhesive used. Clean the wine bottles and remove any adhesive residue. The slats on the wooden shelves are warping. Volume change due to moisture absorption or drying out is a typical characteristic of wood.
Noises Normal noises What is causing them? Brrrrr ... A humming noise is made by the motor (compressor). This noise can get louder for brief periods when the motor switches on. Blubb, blubb ... A gurgling noise can be heard when the refrigerant circulates through the pipes. Click ... Clicking sounds occur whenever the thermostat switches the motor on or off. Crack ... A cracking sound can be heard when material inside the wine conditioning unit expands.
