Fault Possible cause and solution
Fault 234 The cup protection shut-off has been triggered three times
since the coffee system was turned on. The cups or glasses
being used are not clearly recognized by the automatic
dispenser adjustment.

Use only cups or glasses that can be recognized by the
automatic dispenser adjustment.
The automatic dispenser adjustment is malfunctioning.

Touch the On/Off sensor K to turn off the coffee system.
Wait about 2 minutes and then turn the system back on.
"Too much ground
coffee"
There is too much ground coffee in the ground coffee chute.
If more than one level scoop is put into the ground coffee
chute the brew unit cannot process it. The ground coffee will
be directed into the waste container, and an fault message
will be displayed.
^ Touch the On/Off sensor K to turn off the coffee system.
^ Remove the brew unit and clean it (see "Cleaning and care
– Brew unit").
^ Remove all ground coffee from the interior of the coffee
system, for example with a vacuum cleaner.
Use the supplied coffee scoop to measure out the ground
coffee. Scoop only one serving of ground coffee into the
ground coffee chute.
"Insert water
container until it
engages"
The water container is not sitting properly in the appliance.

Take the water container out, then put it back into the
appliance.
This fault message will also appear if the water container is
not correctly filled and inserted during descaling.

Fill it to the descaling mark F and restart the descaling
process.
