Guide to the appliance Optional accessories Bottle rack Stainless steel maintenance – Each application of the Miele stainless steel conditioner forms a water and dirt repellent protective coating. It gently removes water marks, fingerprints and other dirt for a uniformly shiny surface. Optional accessories are available from Miele, your Miele dealer or online. Bottles can be stored horizontally using the bottle rack to save space. The bottle rack can be placed at different positions in the appliance.

When shopping, use a cooler box or bag and place the food in the appliance as soon as possible.
Turning the appliance on and off Before first use Packaging material ^ Remove all packaging material from the inside of the appliance. Accessory - bottle holder The fins of the bottle holder jut out into the bottle shelf and make bottles more secure when opening and closing the appliance door. Protective film The stainless steel trim and panels are covered with a film to protect them during transportation. ^ Remove this protective film after the appliance has been installed.
Turning the appliance on and off Operating the appliance Turning the appliance off The appliance is operated with the use of touch keys activated by a finger. A tone will sound each time a button is touched. You can deactivate this, if you wish (see "Selecting additional settings - Acoustic signals"). Turning the appliance on Once the appliance has been connected to the electrical supply, the electrical connection symbol t will appear in the display after a short while. ^ Touch the On/Off button.
Turning the appliance on and off Turning off for longer periods of time If the appliance is not needed for a longer period of time: ^ turn the appliance off, ^ unplug the power cord or trip the circuit breaker, ^ clean the appliance, ^ leave the door slightly ajar to air out the appliance. If, during a long absence, the appliance is turned off but not cleaned out and the door is left shut, there is a danger of bacteria and odors building up inside the appliance.
The right temperature It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Microorganisms will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to spoil rapidly. Temperature influences the growth rate of these microorganisms. Reducing the temperature reduces their growth rate.
The right temperature Setting the temperature in the refrigerator ^ Use the two buttons underneath the display to set the temperature. By touching the button: – the temperature will get colder – the temperature will get warmer While the temperature is being set, the temperature value will flash. When you touch the buttons, you will see the following changes in the display: – When first touched: The last temperature selected flashes.
The right temperature Adjusting the temperature in the PerfectFresh zone In the PerfectFresh zone the temperature is maintained between 32°F (0°C) and 37°F (3°C). However, if you would like it to be warmer or colder, e.g. when storing fish, you can adjust the temperature slightly. The preset temperature in the PerfectFresh zone is 5. If a setting of between 1 and 4 is selected, minus temperatures may be reached, thus resulting in food freezing.
SuperCool The SuperCool function in the refrigerator The SuperCool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator section to its lowest setting (depending on the room temperature). Turning on SuperCool Turning off SuperCool The SuperCool function turns off automatically after approx. 12 hours. The appliance then operates at normal cooling capacity. To save energy, the SuperCool function can be turned off once food and drinks are sufficiently chilled.
Door alarm The appliance is fitted with a warning system to avoid increased energy consumption and food becoming warm if the door is left open. Turning off the audio alarm If the audio alarm bothers you, it can be silenced. An alarm will sound if the door is left open for too long. The alarm symbol ; will light up. The amount of time until the door alarm is triggered depends on the setting selected and can be either 2 minutes (factory default) or 4 minutes.
Selecting additional settings Certain appliance settings can only be selected in the settings mode. While you are in settings mode, the door alarm and any other fault messages are suppressed automatically, but the alarm symbol ; lights up in the display.

The selected setting will be adopted and the 0 symbol will flash. ^ Touch the settings button to leave the settings mode. Otherwise the appliance will exit the settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.

Selecting additional settings Acoustic signals ) The appliance has acoustic signals such as the button tone and the door and temperature alarms. The keypad tone and door alarm warning tone can be turned on or off, but the temperature alarm cannot be turned off. There are four settings to choose from. Storing food in the refrigerator section Various cooling zones Warmest area Due to the natural circulation of the air in the appliance, there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator section. Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance. Make use of the different zones when placing food in the appliance. The warmest area in the refrigerator section is in the top section of the door.
Storing food in the refrigerator section WARNING! Danger of fire Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer. Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Danger of explosion! If storing fatty or greasy foods in the appliance or the appliance door, make sure that no oil or grease leaks onto the plastic parts of the appliance.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh zone Due to the optimum storage conditions in the PerfectFresh zone for fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and dairy products, food remains fresh for longer, and flavor and vitamins are retained. The optimum storage temperature for fresh food which is not sensitive to the cold is 32-37°F (0-3 °C). This is the temperature range which is automatically maintained in the PerfectFresh zone.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh zone Dry compartment , The dry compartment is suitable for storing perishable foods such as: – fresh fish, shellfish, – meat, poultry, sausage, – salads, – dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, cream, etc. – any type of food can in fact be stored in this compartment, as long as it is packaged. The low temperature in the dry compartment is its most distinctive feature. The humidity level is similar to that in a conventional refrigerator.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh zone If you are not satisfied with your stored food (for example the food wilts or becomes withered after only a short storage time), check the following: ^ Only place fresh food in the appliance. ^ Clean the PerfectFresh compartments before storing food in them. ^ Very wet food should be dried off before storing it. ^ Do not store any food in the PerfectFresh zone which is sensitive to cold (see "Food which should not be stored in a refrigerator").
Adjusting the interior fittings Adjusting the door shelf / bottle shelf Adjustable shelf / Adjustable shelf with lighting ^ Lift up the door shelf / bottle shelf and pull it forward to remove it. The LED lighting is located on the stainless steel trim of the shelf. By adjusting the position of the shelf in the refrigerator section, you can change the illumination in this section according to your needs. ^ Place the door shelf / bottle shelf at any position again.
Adjusting the interior fittings The edge of shelf's rear stop must face upwards so that food does not touch the rear wall and freeze to it. Stops prevent the shelves from being pulled out accidentally. Adjusting the bottle rack The bottle rack can be placed on different levels in the appliance.
Adjusting the interior fittings Take care when cleaning the appliance that you do not wash the special lubricant out of the telescopic runners. Wipe them with a damp cloth. ^ To refit the drawer, insert the drawer lid from beneath into the holders, and push it back into place. To replace the drawer ^ Place the drawer on the fully extended telescopic runners. ^ Push the drawer in until it clicks into place.
Automatic defrosting WARNING! Risk of injury and damage. Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer. The refrigerator defrosts automatically. Condensate and frost can build up on the back wall of the refrigerator when the compressor is running. There is no need to remove it, since it will evaporate automatically with the warmth generated by the compressor.
Cleaning and Care WARNING! Danger of electric shock. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. The data plate located inside the appliance must not be removed. It contains information which is required in the event of a service call. Danger of fire. Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. Information regarding cleaning agents Do not let water get into the electronic unit or the lighting, or on the metal discs (contacts) in the left-hand shelf support.
Cleaning and Care Before cleaning To clean stainless steel surfaces on the appliance, use the Original Miele care product for stainless steel (see "Guide to the appliance - Optional accessories"). This product contains substances that are gentle to stainless steel surfaces and, unlike stainless steel cleaners, it does not contain polishing agents. Soiling is gently removed and each time the Original Miele Care product for stainless steel is used, it forms a protective film against dirt and water.
Cleaning and Care Adjustable shelf / Adjustable shelf with lighting The stainless steel strip with LED lighting and the stainless steel strips on the shelves are not dishwasher-safe. The stainless steel strip with LED lighting on the shelf must not be immersed in water. Proceed as follows to remove the stainless steel strip with LED lighting or the stainless steel strip and rear protective strip: ^ Place the shelf on a soft surface (e.g. towel) with the top side facing downwards.
Cleaning and Care Door shelves and bottle shelves The stainless steel facia panels on the door shelves and bottle shelves are not dishwasher-safe. To remove the stainless steel plinths, proceed as follows: Interior and accessories Clean the appliance at least once a month. Remove any soiling immediately so that it does not dry up. ^ Clean the interior with lukewarm water and a little dishwashing liquid applied with a soft sponge. After cleaning, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and then dry with a soft cloth.

Cleaning and Care After cleaning ^ Put all shelves and accessories back into the appliance. The left-hand support ribs for the adjustable shelves have metal discs (contacts) inside the receiving gaps to supply the LED lighting with electricity. Ensure these contacts are clean and dry before inserting the adjustable shelf with lighting. Push in the shelf until it audibly locks into place. Only in this way can the lighting work. ^ Connect the appliance again and turn it on.

If you are in any doubt as to whether the appliance has been properly grounded, have the appliance checked by a qualified electrician or service technician. Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous.
Electrical connection The appliance must be connected to an electrical outlet that is properly grounded. The electrical installation must comply with the applicable electrical code. The plug must be easily accessible and not concealed behind the appliance so that the appliance can quickly be disconnected from the electricity supply in an emergency. The ventilation gaps given must be observed, otherwise the compressor will run more frequently and for longer periods. This will result in increased energy consumption and a higher operating temperature for the compressor. This may, in turn, cause the compressor to be damaged.

Adjusting the door hinge The door hinges are factory set so that the door can be opened wide. However if the opening angle of the door needs to be limited for any reason, the hinge can be adjusted to accommodate this. If, for instance, when it is opened the appliance door would hit an adjacent wall, you should limit the opening angle of the appliance door to 90°: ^ Insert the limit pins provided into the hinges from above. This will limit the opening angle of the appliance door to 90°.
Changing the door hinging Always change the door hinge with the assistance of another person. The appliance is supplied right-hand hinged. If left-hand hinging is required, the hinges must be changed: You will need the following tools for changing the door hinging: ^ Open the appliance door. ^ Remove the shelves/bottle shelf from the appliance door (depending on model). ^ Slightly loosen the screws d and e on the hinges. ^ Push door f outwards and take it off its hinges. ^ Pull off the covers a, b, c.

Changing the door hinging ^ Hang the appliance door f onto the pre-fitted screws d and e, and then tighten the screws d and e. ^ Replace the covers a, b, and c. ^ Refit the locking pins into the top of the hinges to prevent the doors opening too far.
Installing the appliance Two people are required to install the appliance. To install the appliance you will need the following tools: ^ Install the appliance in a stable, solid housing unit, positioned on an even and level floor. ^ Secure the housing unit against tipping. ^ Use a level to align the housing unit. The corners of the housing unit must be at a 90° angle to each other, otherwise the cabinet door will not align correctly with all 4 corners of the housing unit.

This coding is also used in the installation instructions. – Required for installing the appliance in its housing unit: 4 4 – Required for fitting the cabinet door: 8 4 ** Number depending on niche height. Also contains additional installation parts for fitting large or divided furniture doors. All installation instructions given are for a right-hand hinged appliance.
Installing the appliance ^ Push the appliance two-thirds of the way into the installation space. Ensure that the power cord does not get caught. Tip to help you push it into position: Tie a piece of string around the plug to "increase" the length of the power cord. Then pull the cord by the end of the string through the housing unit. It will then be easier to connect once the appliance is in the unit.
Installing the appliance ^ Screw in adjustable feet l completely. ^ Remove the cover f. ^ Secure the fastening part g using screws h loosely into the top left-hand side of the appliance. Do not tighten the screws so that you can adjust the position of this part. ^ Fit the cover i onto the fixing bracket j. ^ Then screw fixing bracket j using screws k loosely into the bottom of the appliance. Do not tighten the screws so that you can adjust the position of this part.
Installing the appliance Installing the appliance ^ Push the appliance into the niche until all of the brackets are in line with the front edge of the furniture side wall. ^ Carefully remove the protective foil from sealing strip m. ^ Secure the sealing strip m flush with the front of the appliance on the door opening side. 1. Position the sealing strip flush with the lower edge of the top fixing. 2. Stick it down along its entire length.
Installing the appliance ^ Check the position of the fixing bracket at the top and bottom front edge of the cabinet side wall again. This will help maintain a 1 5/8" (42 mm) distance all the way around from the front edges of the cabinet side walls. On cabinetry with door fittings (e.g. stubs, seals etc.) the dimension of these must be taken into account when making sure there is a gap all round of 1 5/8" (42 mm). ^ Pull the appliance forward the appropriate amount to suit the installed dimensions.
Installing the appliance ^ Snap off any protruding ends from the mounting bracket. They are no longer required. ^ Replace covers f and u on the mounting brackets. ^ Push the loose bracket against the cabinet wall. ^ Secure mounting bracket j to the housing unit side wall with screw s. Drill holes in the housing unit side walls if necessary. ^ Secure bracket g to the housing unit side walls using screws t. Drill holes in the housing unit side walls if necessary.
Installing the appliance Only for an appliance with a niche height greater than 55'' (140 cm) For additional stability of the appliance in the unit, push the rods supplied in underneath the appliance between it and the floor of the housing unit: ^ Then secure handle v to one of the rods w. ^ Use the handle to push the rod into the guide as far as it will go. Remove the handle and fit it to the other rod and push this into its guide as far as it will go.
Installing the appliance Installing the custom door front The cabinet door must be at least of 5/8" (16 mm) thick and not exceed 3/4" (19 mm) thick. Installing a door front which is heavier than the maximum permitted could damage the hinges. This can cause damage. The following gap dimensions must be maintained: Before installing door fronts ensure that the weight of the door does not exceed the maximum permitted: – The gap between the cabinet door and the unit door above must be at least 1/8" (3 mm).
Installing the appliance Tip: Push installation aids b together with the cabinet front up to the height of the adjoining unit cabinet doors. ^ A gap of 5/16" (8 mm) is set ex works between the appliance door and the fixing bracket. Double check this gap and reset it if necessary. ^ Push the installation aids b up to the height of the cabinet door: the lower edge X of the installation aids must be at the same height as the upper edge of the cabinet door being fitted (see - on the diagram).
Installing the appliance ^ Place the door panel with the outer side downwards on a stable surface. ^ Secure the side cover q to the bracket on the opposite side of the hinge. ^ Turn the door over and attach the handle (if required). ^ Using a pencil, lightly mark a line down the center of the inside of the panel e. ^ Hang the fixing bracket d with the fitting aids onto the inside of the cabinet door. Align the bracket centrally.
Installing the appliance ^ Open the appliance door. Adjusting the position of the door ^ Hang the door panel on the threaded bolts h. – Side adjustments (X) ^ Screw the nuts c loosely onto bolts. ^ Close the door and check the distance between the door and neighboring cabinet doors. The gaps should be even. 82 ^ Adjust the door panel. – Height adjustment (Y) ^ Tighten the nuts with a wrench h. A gap of 3/8" (8 mm) is factory set between the appliance door and the bracket.
Installing the appliance ^ While counterholding adjusting bolts h with a screwdriver, tighten nuts c on the appliance door with ring spanner j. ^ Cover strip k must be completely hidden in the niche, and must not protrude. ^ Drill holes l in the door panel and fit screws m. Make sure the two metal edges are aligned (Symbol II). ^ Close the appliance door and the cabinet door.
Installing the appliance ^ Tighten all the screws again. The following confirms that the appliance is correctly installed: – The door must close properly. – The door must not touch the furniture body. – The seal at the upper corner of the side with the handle contacts tightly. ^ Replace top cover o, and click it into place. ^ Replace side covers p, making sure you hear them click into place.
