Warning and Safety instructions Technical safety This appliance complies with all relevant legal safety requirements. Improper use of the appliance can, however, present a risk of both personal injury and material damage. To avoid risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully before installation and before using it for the first time. They contain important notes on installation, safety, operation and care of the appliance.
Warning and Safety instructions Do not connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply by an extension lead. Extension leads do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (e.g. danger of overheating). Never open the casing of the appliance. Tampering with electrical connections or components is highly dangerous to the user and can cause operational faults. Correct usage For safety reasons, the appliance must only be used after it has been built in.
Warning and Safety instructions Safety with children The appliance is only intended for use by adults who have read these instructions. This appliance is not a toy! To avoid the risk of injury, keep children well away, and do not allow them to play with it or use the controls. They will not understand the potential dangers posed by it. They should be supervised whenever you are working in the kitchen.
Warning and Safety instructions Protecting the appliance from damage Protection from burning and scalding Do not use a steam cleaner to clean this appliance. The steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit. Pressurised steam could also cause permanent damage to the surface and to other components, for which the manufacturer cannot accept liability. To protect your hands, use heat-resistant pot holders or oven gloves when using the appliance.
Warning and Safety instructions Appliance faults Futher safety notes If there is any damage to the appliance, it must be switched off and disconnected from the mains electricity supply immediately. If the appliance has not yet been fully installed, the electricity cable must be disconnected from the supply point. If connected via a plug and socket, switch off at the socket and withdraw the plug. Contact the Miele Service Department.
Caring for the environment Disposal of the packing material The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and can normally be recycled. Packaging, e.g. cling film, polystyrene and plastic wrappings, must be kept out of the reach of babies and young children. Danger of suffocation.
Before using for the first time General notes This appliance uses a hot air warming system. Heat given off by a heating element is distributed evenly throughout the drawer by a fan. The fan and heating element switch off when the selected temperature is reached. This prevents food from drying out. A protective grille protects you from touching either the fan or the heating element. If the temperature falls below that selected, the heating element switches on again automatically.
Controls Timer Temperature control The heating element and the fan are switched on by setting the timer. A duration of up to 4 hours can be set, or alternatively the "Continuous" setting can be selected. The temperature control can be set at any position between the 12 o'clock position (see picture) and "High". – The appliance is switched off when the control is turned to "0". – If a duration of up to a maximum of 4 hours is set, the appliance will automatically switch off after this time has elapsed.
Controls Moisture control The moisture control regulates the humidity inside the appliance by opening and shutting the vents. It can be set at "Moist" or "Dry", or in between the two. The control can become quite hot. Use oven gloves when adjusting the control whilst the appliance is switched on. – "Moist": The vents are shut. The moisture inside the appliance is retained, and the food is kept moist and juicy. Moisture can build up on the interior walls on this setting. – "Dry": The vents are open.

Operation Keeping food warm Pre-heat the appliance thoroughly before use. Whilst the appliance is heating up, place the empty dishes in it to warm them up. Then place the hot food into the pre-heated dishes. Only use heat-proof dishes. ^ Open the drawer. ^ Set the required duration. To set a fixed duration, turn the timer control clockwise to the required setting. To set the "Continuous" duration, turn the control anti-clockwise. The control will not turn clockwise past 4 hours to the "Continuous" setting.
Operation Warming crockery The appliance can be used to warm crockery. You do not need to pre-heat the drawer. ^ Open the drawer. ^ Place the crockery inside. Distribute the crockery evenly around the drawer to help them warm through quickly. Use the rack, and do not stack too many plates together. ^ Set a duration of approx. 30 minutes. ^ Select the "Low" temperature setting. ^ Set the moisture control to "Moist". ^ Close the drawer.
Operation Useful tips – Do not cover roast or fried foods which you want to keep crisp. – Cover food which you want to keep moist with aluminium foil or a plate. – If you want to keep different types of food warm, select the lowest required temperature. Place food which requires the highest temperature on the rack, and food which requires a lower temperature on the floor of the drawer. – Make sure that the vents inside the drawer are not covered. Otherwise, food and crockery will not heat up evenly.
Operation Loading the drawer The rack can be placed in the middle, on the left or on the right of the drawer. The maximum load bearing capacity of the drawer is 15 kg. ^ Insert the rack into the openings at the back of the drawer, and lower into position at the front. The size of the load will depend on the type and size of your dishes. You can increase the load area by using the rack supplied with the appliance.
Cleaning and care Stainless steel fronts Allow the appliance to cool down to a safe temperature before cleaning. E-Cloth A microfibre "E-Cloth" is available from the Miele UK Spare Parts Department, which is suitable for cleaning surfaces such as stainless steel, glass, plastic and chrome without the use of chemicals. It can be washed 300 times.
Cleaning and care Aluminium fronts Aluminium is affected by the way that light falls on it, by the surrounding environment and by the angle you observe it from. Aluminium surfaces and controls may suffer discolouration or damage if soiling is left on for too long. Remove any soiling straight away. The appliance front is susceptible to scratches and abrasions. Do not use: – cleaning agents containing soda, acids or chlorides, – abrasive cleaning agents, e.g.
Cleaning and care Drawer Anti-slip mat The drawer is very easy to clean when pulled out fully. The anti-slip mat can be removed for cleaning. ^ Remove the anti-slip mat. ^ Clean the anti-slip mat by hand using warm water and a little washing up liquid, and then dry with a cloth. ^ Clean the drawer with warm water and some washing up liquid. ^ Dry with a clean cloth. To remove the drawer Do not put the anti-slip mat back into the drawer until it is completely dry.
Problem solving guide . . . the food is too hot Repairs to electrical appliances must only be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations. Unauthorised repairs could be dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for unauthorised work. Check whether – the correct temperature setting has been selected. – the food is too close to the heating element. . . . the food is either very dry or very moist What to do if . . .
Problem solving guide . . . the crockery is too hot . . . the drawer will not close Check that the correct temperature has been set. Check that . . . a noise can be heard when the drawer is being used This is not a fault. The noise is from the fan, which switches on to ensure even and rapid warming up until the required temperature is reached. It should switch off automatically 30 minutes at the most after the appliance has been switched on. – the drawer is sitting correctly on the runners.
After sales service, data plate In the event of any faults which you cannot remedy yourself, or if the appliance is under guarantee, please contact: – Your Miele dealer, or – the Miele Service Department (see address on back cover). When contacting the Service Department, please quote the model and serial number of your appliance, which are given on the data plate. Please note that telephone calls may be monitored and recorded for training purposes.
Safety instructions for installation Before connecting the appliance to the mains supply, make sure that the connection data on the data plate (voltage and frequency) match the mains electricity supply. This data must correspond in order to avoid the risk of damage to the appliance. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt. The socket and on-off switch should be easily accessible after the appliance has been built in. The appliance must be built in so that the contents of the drawer can be seen.

Installing the food warmer Remove the drawer before you install the appliance. To remove the drawer ^ Position the drawer housing into the niche. ^ Secure the drawers using six screws. Tighten the screws to ensure that the food warmer is fixed securely in the housing unit. To replace the drawer ^ Pull the telescopic runners out of the housing. ^ Place the drawer on the runners, and secure with the two nuts. ^ Pull the drawer out as far as it will go, and loosen the nuts.
Fixing the furniture front The furniture front must be at least 10 mm thick, and be able to withstand temperatures of at least 60 °C. ^ Attach the handle to the furniture front using counter sunk screws. ^ Remove the drawer from its housing (see "To remove the drawer", above). ^ Place the fixing panel on a firm surface with the adhesive strip facing upwards. Remove the protective backing. ^ Position the furniture front on the fixing panel. The adhesive strip will help to keep it in place.
Fixing the furniture front ^ Secure the fixing panel to the furniture front (see illustration). ^ Hang the fixing panel into the front of the drawer. Make sure that the seal is in the correct position. ^ Secure with 2 screws. ^ Replace the drawer.
Electrical connection All electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person, in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Connection should be made via a suitable isolator or a double pole fused spur connection unit or fused plug and switched socket which complies with national and local safety regulations and the on/off switch should be easily accessible after the appliance has been built in.
Electrical connection Non-rewireable plugs BS 1363 Important The fuse cover must be refitted when changing the fuse, and if the fuse cover is lost, the plug must not be used until a suitable replacement is obtained. The colour of the correct replacement cover is that of the coloured insert in the base of the plug, or the colour that is embossed in words on the base of the plug (as applicable to the design of plug fitted).
