Warning and Safety instructions ~ The appliance is not suitable for storing and keeping cool medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations or other such materials or products. Incorrect use of the appliance for such purposes can cause deterioration of the items stored. The appliance is not suitable for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion. Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from incorrect or improper use or operation.
Warning and Safety instructions ~ Danger of suffocation. Packaging, e.g. plastic wrappings, must be kept out of the reach of babies and children. Whilst playing, children could become entangled in packaging or pull it over their head and suffocate. Technical safety ~ The coolant system is tested for leaks. The appliance complies with statutory safety requirements and the appropriate EU guidelines. ~ This appliance contains the coolant Isobutane (R600a), a natural gas which is environmentally friendly.
Warning and Safety instructions ~ The more coolant there is in an appliance, the larger the room it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the appliance is in a small room, there is the danger of combustible gases building up. For every 8 g of coolant at least 1 m3 of room space is required. The amount of coolant in the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance.

Check the appliance for visible signs of damage. Warning and Safety instructions Correct use ~ The appliance is designed for use within certain climate ranges (ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range of the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance. Installing it in a room with too low an ambient temperature will lead to the appliance switching off for longer periods so that it cannot maintain the required temperature.
Warning and Safety instructions ~ When cooling drinks quickly in the freezer section, make sure bottles are not left in for more than one hour, otherwise they could burst, causing injury or damage. ~ Never handle frozen food or the metal parts of the appliance with wet hands. Danger of frost burn. ~ Do not take ice cubes out with your bare hands and never place ice cubes or ice lollies in your mouth straight from the freezer.

The appliance is heavy and must be transported by two people. Cleaning and care ~ Do not use any oils or grease on the door seals, as these will cause the seals to deteriorate and become porous with time. ~ Do not use a steam cleaning appliance to clean this appliance.
Warning and Safety instructions Disposal of your old appliance ~ Before disposing of an old appliance, first make the door latch or lock unusable. This way you will prevent children from accidentally locking themselves in and endangering their lives. ~ Be careful not to damage any part of the pipework whilst awaiting disposal, e.g. by – puncturing the refrigerant channels in the evaporator, – bending any pipework, – scratching the surface coating. Splashes of refrigerant can damage the eyes.

How to save energy Normal energy consumption Use Drawers, shelves and racks arranged as they were when the appliance was delivered. Only open the door when necessary and for as short a time as possible. Store food in an organised way. Frequent opening of the door for long periods will cause a loss of coldness. The appliance works harder to cool down and the compressor runs for longer periods. Take an insulated cool bag with you when shopping and place food in the appliance as soon as possible.
Switching on and off Before using for the first time Packing material ^ Remove all the packing material from the interior of the appliance. Accessories – Bottle holder The flexible ribs grip the bottles securely when the door is opened and closed. Protective foil The stainless steel trim to the interior shelves and the door shelves has a layer of protective foil to prevent scratching during transportation. ^ Carefully remove the protective foil from the stainless steel trim.
Switching on and off Operating the appliance A light touch of the finger on the sensors is all that is required to operate this appliance. A tone will sound each time a sensor is touched. You can deactivate this, if you wish (see "Selecting further settings Acoustic signals"). Switching on When the appliance is connected to the electrical supply, the mains connection symbol t will appear in the display after a short while. ^ Touch the On/Off sensor.
Switching on and off Individual settings can be selected for each section. Switching off ^ Touch the On/Off sensor. If this does not work, the safety lock is still activated. ^ Touch the sensor for the section you want to select the settings for. The sensor that has been selected is highlighted in yellow. You can now select the Super cool and Dynamic cooling functions or adjust the temperature for the refrigerator section.
Switching on and off To switch the refrigerator section on again Switching off for longer periods of time The refrigerator section can also be switched back on again separately. If the appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g. whilst on holiday: ^ switch the appliance off, ^ disconnect it from the mains. ^ Touch the sensor for the refrigerator section so that it is highlighted in yellow. The refrigerator section temperature display will light up.
The correct temperature It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Micro-organisms will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly. Temperature influences the growth rate of these micro-organisms. Reducing the temperature reduces their growth rate.
The correct temperature Temperature display In normal operation the temperature display shows the average, current temperature in the refrigerator section and the temperature in the warmest area of the freezer section. If the temperature in the freezer section is not within the range that the appliance is able to display, dashes will flash in the temperature display.
The correct temperature The following information shows in the display when the sensors are touched: – Touching a sensor once: the last temperature selected flashes. – Each subsequent touch of the sensor: adjusts the temperature shown in 1 °C steps. – Leaving a finger on the sensor: changes the temperature continuously. Approx. 5 seconds after the last time a sensor has been touched, the current temperature inside the appliance is automatically shown.
Using Super cool, Super freeze and Dynamic cooling Super cool Switching off Super cool The Super cool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator to its lowest setting (depending on the room temperature). The Super cool function will switch itself off automatically after approx. 12 hours. The appliance will then continue to work at normal power. Switching on Super cool Super cool is particularly recommended for the faster chilling of large amounts of fresh food or drink.
Using Super cool, Super freeze and Dynamic cooling Super freeze Switching on Super freeze For optimum results switch on the Super freeze function before putting fresh food into the freezer. When freezing small quantities of food in the freezer, the Super freeze function should be switched on 6 hours beforehand. When freezing the maximum load of food the Super freeze function should be switched on 24 hours beforehand.
Using Super cool, Super freeze and Dynamic cooling Switching off Super freeze Dynamic cooling The Super freeze function will switch itself off automatically after approx. 30 65 hours. The quantity of fresh food placed in the freezer will determine the duration before the Super freeze function switches off. The Super freeze ª symbol will go out and the appliance will run at normal power again.
Using Super cool, Super freeze and Dynamic cooling Switching on Dynamic cooling Switching off Dynamic cooling ^ Touch the sensor for the refrigerator section. ^ Touch the sensor for the refrigerator section. The symbol for the refrigerator section is highlighted in yellow. The symbol for the refrigerator section is highlighted in yellow. ^ Touch the Dynamic cooling sensor so that it lights up yellow. The fan will now not run continuously.
Temperature and door alarm This appliance has a warning system which ensures that the temperature in the freezer section cannot rise unnoticed and to avoid energy being wasted if a door is left open. Temperature alarm If the temperature in the freezer section becomes too warm, the sensor for the freezer section will flash and at the same time the alarm symbol ; will flash in the display. An audible alarm will also sound.
Temperature and door alarm Door alarm Switching the alarm off early The alarm will sound if the door is left open for a long time. The alarm symbol ; will light up. If the noise disturbs you, you can switch the alarm off early if you wish. The period of time before the door alarm sounds is 2 minutes (default setting) or 4 minutes depending on the setting selected. The door alarm can also be switched off (see "Selecting further settings - Acoustic signals").
Selecting further settings Certain settings on the appliance can only be selected in settings mode. When in settings mode, the door alarm and other fault messages are automatically deactivated although the alarm symbol ; appears in the display.
Selecting further settings Acoustic signals ) ^ By touching the X or Y sensor, you can now select whether the safety lock is activated or deactivated: 0: the safety lock is deactivated 1: the safety lock is activated ^ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection. The appliance has acoustic signals such as the sensor tone and the door and temperature alarms. You can switch off the sensor tone or the door alarm tone, but you cannot deactivate the temperature alarm.
Selecting further settings Display brightness s ^ By touching the X or Y sensor, you can now select: 0: sensor tone off; door alarm off 1: sensor tone off; door alarm on (after 4 minutes) 2: sensor tone off; door alarm on (after 2 minutes) 3: sensor tone on; door alarm on (after 2 minutes) The display brightness can be adjusted to suit the lighting conditions of the room. The display brightness can be altered in stages from 1 to 3. The default setting is the maximum brightness, option 3.
Selecting further settings Sabbath mode ¬ ^ By touching the X or Y sensor you can now alter the brightness of the display: 1: dimmest setting 2: medium setting, 3: brightest setting. The appliance offers a Sabbath programme for the purposes of religious observance.

As soon as the ¬ symbol goes out in the display, Sabbath mode is switched on. ^ Touch the settings sensor. ^ Switch off Sabbath mode after the Sabbath has passed. All symbols available for selection appear in the display and the 0 symbol flashes. ^ Touch the sensors for setting the temperature (X or Y), repeatedly until the ¬ symbol flashes. ^ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
Storing food in the refrigerator Different storage zones Warmest area Due to the natural circulation of the air in the appliance, there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator section. Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance. Make use of the different zones when placing food in the appliance. The warmest area is in the top section at the front and in the door. Use this for storing butter and cheese.
Storing food in the refrigerator Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Danger of explosion. If storing food which contains a lot of fat or oil in the appliance or the door, make sure it does not come into contact with plastic components as this could cause stress cracks or break the plastic. Food must not touch the back wall of the appliance, as it may freeze to the back wall.
Storing food in the refrigerator When shopping for food Storing food correctly The freshness of food when first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh, and how long it can be kept in the refrigerator. Always observe the use-by date and the recommended storage temperature. Time out of the refrigerator, e.g. during transportation, should be kept to a minimum. For example, do not allow food to stay in a hot car for too long.
Adjusting the interior fittings Adjusting the door shelf/bottle shelf ^ Push the door/bottle shelf upwards, then remove it by pulling it forwards. ^ Replace the door/bottle shelf at the required position. Ensure that it is pushed back into position securely. Moving the bottle holder The bottle holder can be moved to the left or right to create more room for drinks cartons, for example. The bottle holder can be removed completely (e.g. for cleaning).
Adjusting the interior fittings Stoppers prevent the shelves from being dislodged by mistake. Fruit and vegetable drawer Adjusting the bottle rack The fruit and vegetable drawer is on telescopic runners, and can be removed for filling, emptying or cleaning purposes. (depending on model) (depending on model) ^ Pull out the drawer as far as it will go, and then lift it up and out. Push the runners back in again to avoid damaging them.
Freezing and storing food Maximum freezing capacity Storing frozen food To ensure that fresh food placed in the freezer section freezes through to the core as quickly as possible, the maximum freezing capacity must not be exceeded. The maximum freezing capacity for freezing within a 24-hour period is given on the data plate: "Freezing capacity ....kg/24 hrs".
Freezing and storing food Home freezing Only freeze fresh food which is in a good condition. Hints on home freezing – The following types of food are suitable for freezing: Fresh meat, poultry, game, fish, vegetables, herbs, fresh fruit, dairy products, pastry, leftovers, egg yolks, egg whites and a range of pre-cooked meals. – The following types of food are not suitable for freezing: Grapes, lettuce, radishes, sour cream, mayonnaise, eggs in their shells, onions, whole raw apples and pears.
Freezing and storing food Before placing food in the freezer section ^ When freezing more than 22 kg of fresh food, switch on the Super freeze function some time before placing the food in the freezer (see "Using Super cool, Super freeze and Dynamic cooling"). This also helps to prevent food that is already in the freezer from starting to defrost. Placing food in the freezer section Please note that when removing the drawers, the lowest freezer drawer must always remain in the freezer.
Freezing and storing food Defrosting Frozen food can be defrosted in different ways: – in a microwave oven, – in an oven using the "Fan" or "Defrost" setting, Never re-freeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
Freezing and storing food Cool pack The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer rising too quickly in the event of a power cut. This can help to prolong the storage time. ^ Place the cool pack in the top drawer of the freezer section. The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours. In the event of a power cut: ^ Place the frozen cool pack directly on top of the frozen food in the front of the top drawer.
Defrosting Refrigerator section Freezer section The refrigerator section defrosts automatically. This appliance is equipped with a "Frost free" system. The freezer defrosts automatically. Condensate and frost can build up on the back wall of the refrigerator section whilst it is in use. You do not need to remove this, as it will defrost and evaporate automatically with the warmth generated by the compressor.
Cleaning and care Make sure that water cannot get into the electronic unit or into the lighting or the metal discs (contacts) in the left-hand shelf supports. Do not let water get into the drainage channel and drain hole when cleaning. Do not use steam cleaning apparatus to clean the appliance. Steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit. The data plate located inside the appliance must not be removed. It contains information which is required in the event of a service call.
Cleaning and care Before cleaning ^ Switch off the appliance. The display will go out and the cooling system will switch off. If this does not happen the safety lock is active (see "Selecting further settings - Activating or deactivating the lock"). Stainless steel trim with LED lighting Important. Ensure that you loosen the side on which the contacts (metal discs) are not located first. ^ Disconnect the appliance from the mains electricity supply.
Cleaning and care Bottle and door shelves The stainless steel trim on the bottle and door shelves is not suitable for cleaning in a dishwasher. To remove the stainless steel trim, proceed as follows: ^ Place the shelf on a worktop, with the front face down. Cleaning the interior and accessories The refrigerator section should be cleaned regularly, at least once a month. Clean the freezer section each time you defrost it. Remove any obvious soiling immediately and do not let it dry on.
Cleaning and care The following accessories are not suitable for cleaning in a dishwasher: – the stainless steel trim on the bottle and door shelves – the stainless steel trim with LED lighting / stainless steel trim and the protective strips on the shelves – the bottle rack Door seals Do not use any oils or grease on the door seals as these will cause the seals to deteriorate and become porous over time. ^ The door seals should be cleaned regularly with clean water, and then wiped dry with a soft cloth.
Cleaning and care After cleaning ^ Replace all shelves and accessories in the appliance. The left-hand shelf supports have metal discs (contacts) which supply power to the LED lighting. Make sure that the contacts are clean and dry before inserting the shelves with LED lighting. Push the shelf in until it clicks into position, as otherwise the lighting will not work. ^ Reconnect to the mains and switch the appliance back on.
Problem solving guide Some minor problems can be corrected without contacting Miele. If, having followed the suggestions below, you still cannot resolve the problem, please contact Miele. To prevent unnecessary loss of temperature it is advisable not to open the door while waiting for the appliance to be serviced. Unauthorised installation, maintenance and repairs can cause considerable danger for the user. Installation, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorised technician.

Information for dealers Demo mode r The appliance can be demonstrated in the showroom or at exhibitions in "demo mode". In this mode the controls and interior lighting work but the compressor remains switched off. ^ Place your finger on the X sensor, and leave it there. Activating demo mode ^ Switch the appliance off using the On/Off sensor. ^ At the same time, briefly touch the On/Off sensor (without letting go of the X sensor). If this does not work, the safety lock is still activated.
Information for dealers Deactivating demo mode The r symbol is lit up in the display. ^ Touch the settings sensor. ^ Touch the X or Y sensor, until 0 appears (this means: demo mode is deactivated). All symbols available for selection appear in the display and the 0 symbol flashes. ^ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection. ^ Touch the sensors for setting the temperature (X or Y), repeatedly until the r symbol flashes. ^ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
Electrical connection Electrical connection U.K. All electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). The appliance is supplied with a mains cable and moulded plug ready for connection to an a.c. single phase 220-240 V 50 Hz supply. Please ensure that the connection data quoted on the data plate match the household mains supply.
Installation This appliance must be built in, otherwise it could tip up. Side-by-side The KFNS 37432 iD fridge freezer has two foamed in side-wall heaters enabling it to be installed side-by side with other appliances. Each appliance must be installed in its own niche. Your dealer will be able to advise you on which combination of models is possible. Important. In environments with high humidity condensation can build up on the exterior of the appliance. This can cause corrosion of the appliance walls.
Installation Ventilation Specified ventilation gaps must be maintained. Otherwise the compressor will come on more frequently and for longer, resulting in an increase in electricity consumption and also an increase in the operating temperature of the compressor, which can damage it. Air at the back of the appliance gets warm. The appliance housing unit must be constructed to allow sufficient space for ventilation (see "Building-in diagrams").
Installation Before installing the appliance ^ Take the accessory pack which includes installation parts and other accessories out of the appliance and remove the packaging strap holding the door in place. ^ Do not remove the following from the back of the appliance: ^ Open the appliance door, and remove the red safety catch a (depending on model). – The spacers (depending on model). These ensure the gap required between the back of the appliance and the wall is maintained.
Building-in dimensions Before installing the appliance make sure the housing unit is the correct size. Specified ventilation gaps must be maintained in order to ensure the appliance functions correctly.
Adjusting the door hinges The door hinges are set ex-works to enable the door to be opened wide. However, if the opening angle of the door needs to be limited for any reason, the hinge can be adjusted to accommodate this. – If the appliance door fouls an adjacent wall when opened, for example, the opening angle can be limited to 90°. ^ Place the locking pins supplied for limiting the door opening into the hinges from above. The door opening angle is now limited to 90°.
Changing the door hinging Two people are needed for changing the door hinging. ^ Open both appliance doors. ^ Remove all shelves from the refrigerator door. The appliance is supplied right-hand hinged. If left-hand door hinging is required, follow the instructions below. To change the door hinging you will need the following tools: ^ Remove covers a, b, c and d.
Changing the door hinging ^ Slightly loosen screws e and f in the hinges. ^ Push doors g and h outwards and take them off their hinges. ^ Remove screws e. ^ Fit bracket i to the opposite side, and loosely fit screws e. ^ Unscrew fixing screws f completely, and loosely screw them into the holes on the opposite side. If you have put locking pins into the hinges to stop the doors opening too far: ^ Remove the locking pins from the top of the hinges.
Changing the door hinging Carry out the following steps on both doors. To remove the soft-close mechanism Warning. The soft-close mechanism snaps shut when dismantled. Danger of injury. ^ Place the door with the outer side downwards on a stable surface. ^ Undo ball joint l using a screwdriver and reposition and secure it, as shown. ^ Turn the appliance door over so that the outer side is now facing upwards (the hinges remain open). Do not close the hinges. Danger of injury.
Changing the door hinging To secure the soft-close mechanism ^ Turn the appliance door over again so that the outer side is now facing downwards. ^ Screw holder k onto the hinge and tighten securely. ^ Open out soft-close mechanism j and hook it into the ball joint. ^ Push doors g and h onto pre-fitted screws e and f, then tighten screws e and f. ^ Refit covers a, b, c and d. ^ Replace the locking pins into the top of the hinges to prevent the doors opening too far.
Building in the appliance Two people are needed for installing this appliance. To install the appliance you will need the following tools: ^ The appliance must be installed in stable and correctly aligned kitchen furniture on a level surface. ^ The housing unit must be secured against the risk of tipping. ^ Use a spirit level to align the housing unit. The unit corners must be at right angles, as otherwise the furniture door will not align correctly with the 4 corners of the unit.
Building in the appliance The following installation parts are required – required for fitting the furniture door: All installation parts are number coded. This coding is also used in the installation instructions. – required for installing the appliance in its housing unit: All fitting instructions given are for a right-hand hinged appliance. If you have converted the appliance to left-hand hinging you will need to adapt these instructions accordingly.
Building in the appliance ^ Push the appliance two-thirds of the way into its niche. When doing this, make sure that the mains cable does not get trapped. Tip to help you push it into position: Secure a length of string to the plug to "increase" the length of the connection cable. Then pull the cable by the end of the string through the housing unit. It will then be easier to connect once the appliance is in the unit. With 16 mm thick unit walls: ^ Fit cover strip a into position.
Building in the appliance ^ Screw in adjustable feet l completely. ^ Remove cover f. ^ Secure part g using screws h loosely into the top left-hand side of the appliance. Do not tighten the screws so that you can adjust the position of this part. ^ Fit stopper i onto fixing bracket j. ^ Then screw fixing bracket j using screws k loosely into the bottom of the appliance. Do not tighten the screws so that you can adjust the position of this part.
Building in the appliance Installing the appliance ^ Push the appliance into the niche until all fixing brackets are in line with the front edge of the furniture unit side wall. ^ Check the position of the fixing bracket at the top and bottom front edge of the furniture side wall again. This will create a gap all round of 42 mm to the front edges of the housing unit side walls. On furniture with door fittings (e.g.
Building in the appliance Securing the appliance in the niche ^ Push the loose bracket up against the furniture wall. ^ Press the appliance against the side of the housing unit on the hinge side. ^ Secure the appliance in the housing unit by screwing chip board screws s through the tabs on the hinges at the top, bottom and middle of the appliance. ^ Attach fixing bracket j to the housing unit side wall with screw s. Drill holes in the housing unit side walls if necessary.
Building in the appliance For additional stability of the appliance in the unit push the rods supplied in underneath the appliance in between it and the floor of the housing unit. ^ Snap off any protruding ends from the fixing bracket. They are no longer required. ^ Replace covers f and u on the fixing brackets. ^ Then secure handle v to one of the rods w. ^ Use the handle to push the rod into the guide as far as it will go.
Building in the appliance Fitting the furniture doors The furniture door must be at least 16 mm thick and not exceed 19 mm thick. The following gap dimensions must be maintained: – The gap between the furniture door and a unit door above must be at least 3 mm. Fitting a door front which is heavier than the maximum permitted could damage the hinges. This can cause subsequent functional problems.
Building in the appliance Carry out the following steps on both doors. Tip: Push the fitting aids b together with the furniture front up to the height adjoining unit furniture doors. ^ A gap of 8 mm is set ex-works between the appliance door and the fixing bracket. Double check this gap and reset it if necessary.
Building in the appliance ^ Place the furniture door with the outer side downwards on a stable surface. ^ Fit the side cover q over the fixing bracket on the hinge side. ^ Turn the furniture door over and attach the handle if required. ^ Using a pencil, lightly mark a line down the centre of the inside of the furniture door e. ^ Hang fixing bracket d with the fitting aids onto the inside of the furniture door. Align the fixing bracket centrally.
Building in the appliance ^ Open the appliance door. Adjusting the door ^ Hang the furniture door onto adjusting bolts h. – Side adjustments (X) ^ Loosely attach nuts c on the adjusting bolts. – Height adjustment (Y) ^ Close the door and check the distance between the door and neighbouring furniture doors. The gap should be even. ^ Slide the furniture door. ^ Use a screwdriver to adjust bolts h. A gap of 8 mm is set ex-works between the appliance door and the fixing bracket.
Building in the appliance ^ Whilst counterholding adjusting bolts h with a screwdriver, tighten nuts c on the appliance doors with ring spanner j. ^ Drill holes l in the furniture door and fit screws m. Make sure the two metal edges are aligned (Symbol II). ^ Cover strip k must be completely hidden in the niche, and must not protrude. ^ Close both doors. Aligning the door – Depth adjustment (Z) ^ Loosen screws i at the top of the appliance door, and screw n on the fixing bracket at the bottom.
Building in the appliance ^ Tighten all screws again. To make sure the appliance is correctly fitted: – The doors must close properly. – The doors must not touch the housing unit. – The seals at the top edge of the handle side must fit properly. ^ To double check place a torch in the appliance and close the doors. Turn the lights out in the room. If you can see any light shining out from the sides double check the installation. ^ Replace top cover o, and click it into place.
