GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This appliance must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for electric current.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Before connecting the machine, ensure that the connection data on the data plate (fusing, voltage and frequency) match the mains electrical supply. If in doubt contact an electrician. Do not use an extension cord to connect this appliance to the power supply. Extension cords do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance (e.g. danger of overheating).
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Use Do not allow children to play on or in the appliance. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children. The drum door glass will be hot when washing at very high temperatures. Do not touch the glass. Danger of burns! Keep children away from the washer when in use. Only use the washing machine to wash items which are specified by the manufacturer to be machine washable on the fabric care label. Any other applications may be dangerous.
Help protect our environment Disposal of the packing material The cardboard box and packing materials protect the appliance during shipping. They have been designed to be biodegradable and recyclable. Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags, etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of children, as they pose a danger of suffocation. Guide to the washer Display function Menu buttons The display allows you to operate and select various functions of the washer.
Before using for the first time The appliance must be correctly Setting the display language installed and connected before the first use. Please see the "Installation instructions." This washing machine has undergone thorough testing in the factory, there may be some residual water in the drum from this process. The default setting for the display language is German. The display language can be adjusted.
1. Prepare the laundry Tip: Stains can be pre-treated using some tricks, which can be found in "Miele's guide to laundry care." Please contact Miele to obtain a copy of this booklet. Solvent-based cleaners (e.g., benzene) can damage plastic parts. When pre-treating a stain, make sure that plastic parts do not come into contact with cleaning agent. Empty all pockets. Foreign objects left in pockets (e.g. nails, coins, paper clips, etc.) can cause damage to clothes and the machine.
2. Load the laundry Turn on the washer Press the I-On / 0-Off button. The washer is turned on and The drum light is on. Tip: The drum light turns off automatically after five minutes. To turn the light on again press the Door button. Load the laundry To prevent damage to the door seal and clothing, make sure that there are no clothes caught between the drum door and the seal. Close the drum door. Press the Door button. The drum door is open. Load the laundry loosely into the drum.
3. Select a program A. Program selection using program buttons B. Program selection via the MasterCare button Press the button to select the desired washing program. Press the MasterCare button. The relevant indicator light will light up. The following appears in the display: MasterCare Extra White OK With the left button , page down through the selection list. The desired program is on the display: Confirm the program with the right button OK.
4. 4. Selecting program settings Sensitive Switching on delay start An additional final rinse washes away detergent residue and scents. The start of a program can be delayed from 30 minutes up to 24 hours. An additional rinse takes place. Switch on the delay start (if desired). Buzzer A buzzer signals the end of the wash program or after Hold. The buzzer sounds until the washer is turned off. The buzzer volume can be adjusted. Please see "Delay start" for more information.
5. Add detergent Front loading washing machines require special high efficiency detergents. Closely follow the requirements of the detergent manufacturer. Use detergent according to the laundry soiling. Use less for smaller loads. Light soiling No soiling or stains are visible. Normal soiling Some visible soiling or a few light stains. Heavy soiling Very visible soiling or stains. Use the Heavy soil function and split the detergent in the Heavy soil compartment as described.
5. Add detergent Using liquid detergent Use of bleach Bleach removes stubborn stains. Observe the following prerequisites: – Use liquid detergent. Heavy-duty powder detergent already contains a bleach and thus the use of an additional liquid bleaching agent is not recommended. – Do not select the Heavy Soil option. If this option is selected, the bleach will be prematurely added. Pull out the detergent dispenser drawer and add detergent to the compartments.
5. Add detergent Using powder detergent Liquid detergent inserts come already inserted in the detergent compartments. To use powder detergent remove the inserts. Dispensing fabric softener or liquid starch Fabric softener Makes fabrics feel softer and reduces static cling in the dryer. Mild liquid starch A synthetic starch wash that gives fabrics some stiffness. Starch Gives the fabrics stiffness and volume. Remove the inserts from both compartments and .
6. Start the program - Program end Activate the Child Lock (if desired) The Child Lock can be activated to prevent a child from canceling the program and opening the door at the end of a program. Press and hold the Heavy soil button until the display shows: Locked Deactivate the Child Lock Press the flashing Start button. If the delay start is set, the remaining times elapses in the display.
6. Start the program - Program end Program end During the "Anti-crease" program the display shows Anti-crease alternating with End. Open the drum door. Remove the laundry. Check the drum for any missed pieces of laundry. Items inadvertently left in the washer may be damaged (e.g. shrink or discolor) during the next wash cycle. Check the folds of the door seal for any small articles. Close the drum door. Activate the Child Lock. So children or animals do not find their way into the drum.
Spin cycle Final spin speed Program Hold The laundry will not be spun and will remain suspended in the final rinse water. This reduces creasing if the laundry is not going to be removed from the drum immediately after the end of the program.
Delay Start Delay start allows you to delay the start of a program from 30 minutes up to a maximum of 24 hours. Press the Delay button. Start in: Warm 0:30h High spin With every touch of the Delay button, the start is delayed longer: – For a delay less than 10 hours, the delay time extends in 30 minute increments. – For a delay time more than 10 hours, the delay time extends in 1 hour increments. Tip: Press and hold the Delay button to speed up the count.

Changing the programme sequence Canceling a program Interrupting a program A program can be canceled any time after the program start. Turn the washer off. To continue: Turn the washer on again. Changing a program A program change is not possible once the program has started. The program must be canceled. Adjusting the temperature The temperature can be changed up to 6 minutes after the program start.

If you elect to turn off the water to your home for an extended period of time, please note that this may not be enough to reduce the risk of a leak. Add or remove laundry. Close the door. The program continues automatically. Note: Once the program has started the washer can not make adjustments of the load size.

Detergent Front-loading washing machines require high efficiency detergent. Observe the manufacturer's specification. Miele offers detergent that has been perfectly adapted to your washing machine. Cleaning and care Cleaning the drum Do not use chemical solvents, Washing at low temperatures and/or using liquid detergent can cause bacteria and unpleasant odors to build up in the washing machine. For this reason, Miele recommends that the washing machine be cleaned once a month. abrasive cleaners, glass or all purpose cleaners! They will damage the surface. Do not put laundry in the washing machine. Select the Sanitize program and the Sanitize temperature.
Cleaning and care Clean the siphon tube 1. Remove the siphon tube from the compartment and rinse under warm water. Clean the pipe on which the siphon tube is attached. 2. Replace the siphon tube. Clean the siphon tube and fabric softener channel more often when frequently using liquid starch. Liquid starch tends to stick. Cleaning the niche of the detergent drawer Using a bottle brush remove any detergent or lime deposits from the water inlet valves at the top of the detergent drawer niche.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the water inlet filter The washing machine has two filters to protect the water inlet valve. These filters should be checked every six months or so, or more often if there are frequent interruptions to the water supply. First turn off the faucet. Unscrew the inlet hose from the faucet in a clockwise direction using a screwdriver (if necessary). Remove the rubber seal 1 from the connector. Using needle nose pliers, take hold of the plastic filter bar 2 and remove it.

Frequently asked questions Poor wash results Problem Possible cause and solution Liquid detergent does not give the required result. Liquid detergents usually contain no bleaching agents. They do not remove fruit, coffee and tea stains. Use a general purpose powder detergent containing a bleaching agent. Add stain removers to the compartment. Never put stain removers and liquid detergent together in the detergent dispensing drawer. Laundry has a gray, sticky residue.

The washing machine is not connected to the power supply and/or is not switched on. Insert the plug in the socket and switch on and/or switch the washing machine on with the I-On/0-Off button. Frequently asked questions Opening the drum door during a power failure Turn off the washing machine. There is a tool behind the detergent drawer control panel for opening the access panel to the drain filter. If laundry has been washed at a high temperature, water draining out of the machine will still be hot. Danger of scalding! Be careful when draining the suds. Draining the washing machine Place a suitable container under the access flap.
Frequently asked questions Once the flow of water stops: Make sure the drain filter is securely tightened. Otherwise there is a risk of water leakage during use. To avoid loss of detergent, pour approx. 2 quarts (2 liters) of water into the detergent dispenser drawer after cleaning the drain filter. Excess water will be pumped out automatically before the next wash program. Opening the drum door Make sure the machine is turned Remove the drain filter completely. Clean it thoroughly.

Installation Installation site Installation A concrete floor is the most suitable surface for the washer. Concrete floors are less prone to vibration during the spin cycle than wooden floors. Use the front washer feet and the rear excess end to transport the washer from its shipping pallet to the installation site. Note: Do not lift the washer by the drum door! The machine must be leveled and securely positioned.

Installation Leveling the machine The washing machine must stand perfectly level on all four feet to ensure safe and proper operation. Incorrect installation may increase electric and water consumption and may cause the machine to move about. Screwing out and adjusting the feet The four adjustable screw feet are used to level the machine. All four feet are screwed in when the machine is delivered. Use a level to check that the washing machine is standing level. Hold foot 1 securely with a pipe wrench.
Installation Water connection The water protection system The Miele water protection system protects all parts of the washing machine and its surroundings from water damage. The system consists of the following main components: Electronic module and washing machine housing – Sump: Any leaking water is collected in a sump in the base of the machine. A float switches off the water inlet valves, preventing any more water from flowing into the machine and water in the suds container is pumped away.
Installation The washing machine can be connected to a portable water supply. A non-return valve is not needed unless required by building code. The washing machine has ½" (13 mm) pressure hoses with ¾" (19 mm) female hose thread connections. If there is no water hookup, contact a plumber to install a connection. Make sure that the sealing ring is seated properly on the hose connector. Replace the hose only with a genuine Miele hose, or with a hose able to withstand up to 145 psi (10.000 kPa) pressure.
Installation Hot water Drainage – The washing machine is programmed for hot water operation at delivery. The 5 ft (1.5 m) drain hose may be connected as follows: – The temperature of hot water at the faucet must not exceed 140°F (60°C). The preferred temperature is 131°F (55°C). Consult a plumber if the temperature at the faucet exceeds 140°F (60°C). 1. Directly into a sink: hook the hose over the edge of the sink and secure it firmly (e.g. by tying the hose to the water faucet).

In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
Setting the language The display can be set to appear in one of several different languages. The display language can be changed at any time as long as no program is in progress. Press the Extended button until the display shows the following: Language english OK Scroll through the selection list with the left button until the desired language appears in the display. Confirm the language with the OK button. The selected language appears in the display.
