Warning and Safety instructions This washing machine complies with current safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine, please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important information on its safety, use and maintenance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users are familiar with the content. Pass them on to any future user.
Warning and Safety instructions Safety with children Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from the washing machine unless they are constantly supervised. Children 8 years and older may only use the washing machine unsupervised if they have been shown how to use it safely and recognise and understand the consequences of incorrect operation. Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the washing machine unsupervised.
Warning and Safety instructions The electrical safety of this washing machine can only be guaranteed when correctly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety requirement is met. If in any doubt, please have the wiring system of the building tested by a qualified electrician. Miele cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system (e.g. electric shock).
Warning and Safety instructions The machine must be isolated from the electricity supply when cleaning and maintaining the machine and in the event of a fault. The machine must only be connected to the on-site water supply using a new hose kit. Old hose kits must not be re-used. Check the condition of the hoses regularly so that you can replace them in good time and avoid the risk of any water damage. The water flow pressure must be at least 100 kPa and should not exceed 1000 kPa.
Warning and Safety instructions Correct use Do not install the washing machine in a room where there is a risk of frost. Frozen hoses may burst or split. The reliability of the electronic control unit may be impaired at temperatures below freezing point. Before using the machine for the first time, check that the transit bars at the rear of the machine have been removed (see “Installation and connection - Removing the transit bars”).
Warning and Safety instructions If the correct amount of detergent is dispensed, the machine should not need to be descaled. If, however, you do wish to descale it, only use a proprietary natural citric acid based descaling agent. Miele recommends using Miele descaling agent which is available to order online at www.miele.co.uk or from Miele. Strictly observe the instructions on the packaging.
Warning and Safety instructions Accessories Accessory parts may only be fitted when expressly approved by Miele. If other parts are used, warranty, performance and product liability claims will be invalidated. A Miele tumble dryer can be stacked on top of a Miele washing machine using the appropriate stacking kit (available as an optional accessory). Please make sure you order the correct one for the Miele washing machine and Miele tumble dryer.

Operating the washing machine How the control panel works Sensor controls for extras You can select extra options to augment the wash programmes. If a wash programme has been selected, the sensor controls for the possible extras light up dimly. Indicator lights – lights up if there are faults with the water inlet and drainage The , , , , and sensors react to fingertip contact. Selection is possible as long as the respective sensor is illuminated.
Operating the washing machine Time display Start/Stop sensor control After the programme has started, the programme duration will appear in the display in hours and minutes. Touching the Start/Stop sensor starts the selected programme or cancels a programme that has already been started. The sensor flashes slowly as soon as it is possible for a programme to be started and then lights up constantly after the programme has started.
Before using for the first time Damage resulting from incorrect installation and connection. Installing and connecting the washing machine incorrectly will cause serious property damage. See “Installation and connection”. Protective foil and stickers removal Remove: – The protective foil from the door – Any stickers from the front and the lid Please do not remove any labels (e.g. the data plate) which are visible when you open the door.
Before using for the first time Running the first programme Open the stopcock. Turn the programme selector to Cottons. The washing machine is now switched on and in the control panel, the temperature 60 °C lights up. Touch the Start/Stop sensor. The programme will start and the symbol lights up in the control panel. After 10 minutes, the indicators dim and the Start/Stop sensor starts flashing. Tip: Leave the door slightly open to allow the drum to dry.
Washing environmentally and economically Energy and water consumption Detergent – Water consumption and energy usage are determined by the size of the load. To make the most of your machine, load the maximum dry load for the programme you are using. – Do not exceed the amounts of detergent recommended by the manufacturer on the packaging. – When smaller amounts of laundry are washed, the automatic load control will reduce the amount of water and energy used.
1. Prepare the laundry Tip: Stains (e.g. blood, egg, coffee, tea) can be pre-treated using some handy tricks which can be found in the Miele guide to laundry care. Damage due to solvent-based Empty all pockets. Damage due to foreign objects. Nails, coins, paper clips, and so on can cause damage to garments and components in the machine. Check the laundry before washing and remove any foreign objects. Sort the laundry Sort the laundry by colour and by care label.
2. Load the washing machine Open the door Close the door Reach under the door grip and pull the door open. Make sure that no items are caught between the door and the seal. Check the drum for pets or foreign objects before loading it with laundry. The most efficient use of energy and water is achieved when a full load is washed. However, do not overload as this reduces cleaning efficiency and causes creases. Unfold the laundry and load loosely into the drum.
3. Select a programme Programme selection The washing machine is switched on by turning the programme selector to a wash programme. Selecting a temperature/spin speed The wash programme's pre-set temperature and spin speed light up brightly. The choice of temperatures and spin speeds selectable for the wash programme light up dimly. Turn the programme selector to the required programme.
3. Select a programme Selecting Extras The selection of extras available for the wash programme lights up dimly. Touch the sensor for the extra you want. It then lights up brightly. Tip: You can select multiple extras for a wash programme. Please refer to “Extras” for more information.
4. Add detergent Detergent dispenser drawer Adding detergent Any detergent suitable for automatic front loading washing machines can be used. Please observe the instructions for use and dosage on the detergent packaging. Tips on dosing Adjust the detergent dosage to the level of soiling of the laundry and the size of the load. Reduce the amount of detergent with smaller loads (e.g. reduce the amount of detergent by ⅓ when washing a half load).
4. Add detergent CapDosing Inserting a capsule Three different types of capsule are available: Open the detergent dispenser drawer. = Fabric care (e.g. fabric conditioner, proofing agent) = Additives (e.g. detergent enhancer) = Detergent (for the main wash only) Each capsule contains the correct amount for one wash cycle. Caps are available to order from Miele or from the Miele online shop (see the end of this booklet for contact details). Open the lid of the / compartment.
4. Add detergent The wash programme will dispense the contents of the capsule at the correct time. Water intake to the compartment is solely via the capsule. Do not add any additional fabric conditioner to the compartment. Remove the empty capsule at the end of the programme. Close the lid and press it firmly shut. Close the detergent dispenser drawer. The capsule is opened by the act of inserting it in the detergent dispenser drawer.
5. Start the programme Starting a programme Touch the flashing Start/Stop sensor. The door will lock and the programme will start. – As long as the symbol is flashing in the control panel you can add laundry. – When the symbol lights up constantly, the door is locked until the end of the programme. If a delay start time has been selected, then this will count down in the time display.
6. End of programme - unload the drum End of programme The time display shows 0:00. The symbol will remain lit up in the control panel. The door is locked in the anticrease phase. Items left in the drum could discolour other items in the next wash or become discoloured themselves. Remove all items from the drum. Touch the Start/Stop sensor. The door will unlock and the symbol appears in the control panel. Check the folds in the door seal for any small articles, e.g.

For programmes marked with a * in the chart, the optimum spin speed is not the maximum spin speed. You can reduce the final spin speed.
Spinning To omit the final spin (Rinse hold) To omit rinse and interim spin and the final spin Touch the sensor (rinse hold). Touch the sensor. The laundry is not spun after the final rinse and remains in the final rinse water. This helps prevent creasing if the laundry is not going to be removed from the drum immediately after the end of the programme. After the last rinse, the water will be pumped away and the anti-crease phase will switch in.
Delay start With Delay start you can choose when you want the programme to start. You can delay the start of the programme by 30 minutes up to a maximum of 24 hours, allowing you to make use of night-time economy electricity rates, for example. Select delay start Delay start cannot be selected with Drain/Spin or Proofing. Select the programme required. Touch the sensor. To begin delay start Touch the flashing Start/Stop sensor. The delay start process starts and counts down in the time display.
Programme chart Cottons 60 °C/40 °C Max. load 8.0 kg Use for Normally soiled cotton garments. Note – These settings are the most efficient in terms of energy and water consumption for washing cottons. – At 60 °C, the actual wash temperature reached will be lower than 60 °C, although the wash performance is the same as with the Cottons 60 °C programme. Note for test institutes: The test programme conforms to EN 60456 and the energy label to Directive 1061/2010. Cottons Cold to 90 °C Max. load 8.
Programme chart Delicates Use for Cold to 40 °C Max. load 2.0 kg Delicate garments made from synthetic fibre, mixed fibre, rayon and viscose. Curtains, including net curtains, specified as machine-washable by the manufacturer. Notes – Dust in curtains usually makes a programme with pre-wash advisable. – Deselect the spin for items which crease easily. Woollens Cold to 40 °C Max. load 2.0 kg Use for Machine-washable or hand-washable wool or wool blend fabric.
Programme chart Outerwear Cold to 40 °C Max. load 2.5 kg Use for Performance outerwear (e.g. jackets and trousers) made from membrane fabric such as Gore-Tex®, SYMPATEX®, WINDSTOPPER® etc. Notes – Zip up or close jackets before washing. – Do not use fabric conditioner. – If wished, these garments can also be re-proofed using the Proofing programme. Proofing should not be done every time the garment is washed. Proofing 40 °C Max. load 2.
Extra options You can use the extra options buttons to augment the wash programmes. Extras are selected and deselected using the relevant sensors on the control panel. Water plus The water level in the wash and rinse stages is increased and a second rinse is carried out in the “Separate rinse / Starch” programme. You can select other functions for the Water plus sensor. These are described in “Programmable functions”. Pre-wash For laundry with large amounts of dirt, e.g. dust and sand.

Programme sequence = low water level = medium water level = high water level = intensive rhythm = normal rhythm = sensitive rhythm = handwash rhythm = carried out – Special features in the programme sequence Anti-crease: At the end of the programme the drum continues to turn at intervals for up to 30 minutes to help prevent creasing. Exception: there is no anti-crease phase in the Woollens programme. The door can be opened at any time during the anti-crease phase.
Programme sequence PowerWash 2.0 PowerWash 2.0, a washing technique developed by Miele, is activated in the following programmes with small and medium-sized loads: – Cottons – Minimum iron – the final spin speed selected is not lower than 600 rpm – with Cap dosing neither the nor the sensor controls are active. With some options (e.g. Pre-wash, Water plus) PowerWash 2.0 is not activated.
Changing the programme sequence Changing a programme After the successful start of a programme it is no longer possible to change the programme. If you would like to change the programme, you have to cancel the programme. Cancelling a programme You can cancel a wash programme at any time after it has started. Touch and hold the Start/Stop sensor until the time display switches to :. The water will be pumped away. As soon as the symbol in the control panel goes out, the programme has been cancelled.
Changing the programme sequence Adding or removing laundry You can add or remove laundry at the start of a wash programme as long as the symbol is flashing in the control panel. Briefly touch the Start/Stop sensor. The programme will stop and the door will unlock. Pull open the door. Add or remove items. Close the door. Touch the Start/Stop sensor. The programme will continue.
Garment care label symbols Washing Drying The figure quoted in the bucket is the maximum temperature the garment can be washed at. The number of bars under the symbol indicates the level of agitation permitted. The number of dots indicates the drying temperature No bar under the symbol: = normal agitation One bar under the symbol: = reduced agitation Two bars under the symbol: = much reduced agitation Hot iron (max. sole plate temp. approx.
Detergent The correct detergent Dispensing aids All detergents produced for automatic washing machines are suitable. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and dosage recommendations on the packaging. Use dispensing aids, (e.g. balls) if these are supplied with the detergent, particularly when using liquid detergent. For users in Asia: please use a low foaming detergent suitable for use in front-loading machines When purchasing detergent buy refill packs wherever possible.
Detergent Miele recommended detergents Miele detergents and care products have been specially designed for Miele washing machines. They are available to order via the internet at www.miele.co.uk or from Miele.
Detergent Recommended detergents in accordance with Directive (EU) Nr. 1015/2010 The recommendations apply to the temperature ranges given in the Programme chart.
Detergent Dispensing fabric conditioner and liquid starch at the end of the programme Add liquid starch to the compartment and powder or viscous starch to the compartment. Select the Separate rinse/Starch programme. Change the spin speed if necessary. Activate the Cap sensor if using a capsule. Touch the Start/Stop sensor. Colour run and dye removers/dyes Damage due to colour run/dye Add the fabric conditioner or liquid starch to the compartment or insert the appropriate capsule.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the drum (Hygiene info) Washing at low temperatures and/or using liquid detergent can cause bacteria and unpleasant odours to build up in the washing machine. Use the Cottons 90 °C programme to clean the machine. Run this programme at the latest when the indicator lights up.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the siphon tube and the channel Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawer housing Liquid starch can cause the siphon to become clogged. Make sure that you clean the siphon and siphon tube particularly thoroughly after using liquid starch a few times. Use a bottle brush to remove detergent residues and limescale from the jets inside the detergent dispenser drawer housing. Clean the siphon. 1. Remove the siphon from the compartment and rinse under hot running water.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the water inlet filter Cleaning the filter in the inlet valve The washing machine has two filters to protect the inlet valve. You should inspect the filters approximately every 6 months, or more often if there are frequent interruptions to the external water supply. Using pliers, carefully loosen the ribbed plastic nut on the inlet valve and unscrew it. Cleaning the filter in the inlet hose First turn off the stopcock. Unscrew the inlet hose from the stopcock.
Problem solving guide Many malfunctions and faults that can occur in daily operation can be easily remedied. Time and money will be saved because a service call will not be needed. The following guide may help you to find the reason for a malfunction or a fault, and to correct it. The programme does not start Problem Cause and remedy The control panel remains dark. There is no power to the machine. Check whether the mains plug is plugged in and switched on.

They do not remove fruit, coffee and tea stains. Use a general purpose powder detergent containing a bleaching agent. Use the appropriate capsule or add stain removers to the compartment. Never put stain removers and liquid detergent together in the dispenser drawer.
Problem solving guide The door will not open Problem Cause and remedy The door cannot be pulled open during a programme. The door is locked during a programme. Touch the Start/Stop sensor to cancel the programme. The programme is cancelled, the door will unlock and you will be able to pull it open. There is still water in the drum and the machine is unable to drain.

Problem solving guide Open the door Danger of injury due to rotating drum! Reaching into a moving drum is extremely dangerous. Always make sure that the drum is stationary before reaching in to remove laundry. Clean the drain filters thoroughly. Remove any foreign objects (e.g. buttons, coins, etc.) and clean the interior. Turn the impellers by hand to check that they rotate freely. Use a screwdriver to unlock the door. Pull open the door.

Installation and connection Installation surface A concrete floor is the most suitable installation surface. It is far less prone to vibration during the spin cycle than wooden floorboards or a carpeted surface. Please note: The machine must be level and securely positioned. To avoid vibrations during spinning, the machine should not be installed on soft floor coverings. If installing on a wooden joist floor: Install the machine on a plywood base (at least 59 x 52 x 3 cm).

Incorrect installation may increase electricity and water consumption and may cause the machine to move about. Screwing out and adjusting the feet The four adjustable screw feet are used for levelling the washing machine. The machine is supplied with all four feet are screwed in. Use a level to check that the washing machine is standing level.
Installation and connection Installing under a continuous worktop Risk of electric shock due to exposed cables There is a risk of coming into contact with live parts while the lid is removed. Building under kits* must only be installed/dismantled by a suitably qualified fitter in accordance with the instructions supplied. Washer-dryer stack The washing machine can be combined with a Miele tumble dryer in a washerdryer stack. The appropriate “WTV” stacking kit* to match your dryer is required.
Installation and connection The water protection system The Miele water protection system protects all parts of the washing machine from water damage. The system consists of three main components: – the inlet hose – the electronic unit and drainage and overflow protection – the drain hose Inlet hose – Protection against bursting The inlet hose is tested to withstand pressure of at least 7,000 kPa.
Installation and connection Connection to the water supply Maintenance The washing machine should be connected to a mains water supply in accordance with current local and national safety regulations. The German authorities do not require it to have a non-return valve as the washing machine has been designed to comply with DIN regulations. The flow pressure must amount to a minimum of 100 kPa (1 bar) and must not exceed an overpressure of 1000 kPa (10 bar).
Installation and connection Water drainage Please note: The suds are drained through a drain pump with a 1 m delivery head. For the water to drain freely, the hose must be free of kinks. If required, the hose can be extended to a length of up to 5 m. Accessories are available from Miele or from your Miele dealer. For a delivery head of more than 1 m (up to a max. of 1.8 m) a replacement drain pump will need to be fitted. Please contact Miele for advice. For a delivery head of 1.
Installation and connection Electrical connection The washing machine is supplied with a mains cable with moulded plug ready for connection to a switched socket. Risk of fire from overheating. Connecting the washing machine to a multi-socket plug adapter or to an extension lead can overload the cable. Do not use an extension lead or multi-socket plug adapter. The socket must be easily accessible after the machine has been installed.

When the code has been activated, you have to enter a code after switching the washing machine on. Otherwise the washing machine cannot be operated. Programmable functions Memory The washing machine will save the last settings (temperature, spin speed and some of the extras) selected for a programme after the programme has started. When this programme is chosen again, these saved settings will appear in the display. Options = Memory is switched off (factory default setting) = Memory is switched on Longer pre-wash Cottons If you require a longer pre-wash you can extend the pre-wash time.
Programmable functions Reduce temperature The boiling point for water is lower at high altitudes. In order to avoid water boiling, Miele recommend activating the reduce temperature setting at altitudes of more than 2000 m above sea level. The maximum temperature is reduced to 80 °C even when a higher temperature is selected.
Programmable functions Suds cooling When this is activated, additional water flows into the drum at the end of the main wash to cool the suds down. Hot suds can damage plastic drainage pipes. Anti-crease The anti-crease function helps prevent creasing if laundry is not going to be removed immediately after the end of the programme. Suds cooling takes place when a temperature of 70 °C or higher is selected for the Cottons programme.
