Ch ap t e r 1 : In tro d u c tio n Chapter 1 gives an overall description of the MIL-9100X Media Conversion System. 1.1 Overview of the MIL-9100X The MIL-9100X Media Conversion System is an 8-slot rack mount assembly, that can support up to eight different media converters, including a “master” (MiLAN’s MIL-4650) or a “slave” device (MiLAN’s MIL-4655). The master and slave devices are used to manage the MIL-9100X using SNMP.
Introduction Currently, MiLAN Technology’s conversion modules supported include (but not limited to): • MIL-140TRM: Multi-mode media converter; 10BASE-FL to 10BASE-T, I N T R O D U C T I O N • MIL-160TRM: Single-mode media converter; 10BASE-FL to 10BASE-T • MIL-170TRM: Single-mode media converter, 10BASE-FL to 10BASE-T • MIL-180CRM/180TRM: Multi-mode media converter; 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX • MIL-190CRM: Single-mode media converter; 100BASE-TX to 100BASE-FX, • MIL-240TRM: Media converter; featuring thre
Ch ap te r 2 : In s ta lla tio n Chapter 2 gives installation information for a MIL-9100X Media Converter System. 2.1 Installation Requirements Before installing the MIL-9100X, make sure you have the following: • MIL-9100X Media Converter System • Power supply (two if necessary) • Two, right-angle bracket assemblies • Eight, 440 × 1/4 phillips-head screws I N S T A L L A T I O N • Power cord • Standard, Phillips screwdriver (not included) Figure 2-1. Chapter 2 2. Install the MIL-9100X into a 1U size slot on a rack. Use the phillips head screws (supplied) to secure the device. Note: For safety reasons, MiLAN recommends that two people install the MIL-9100X. One person should hold the unit, while the other secures the MIL-9100X. Also, excessive charring of the unit will damage internal components and void the warranty. 3. Add the extra power supply (if necessary). I N S T A L L A T I O N 4.
