CP8745 Permanent Magnet Field Cordless Product
SUBJECT: brass brush tubes can be damaged when removing the armature from the
motor housing \ cage \ handle half… tool running slower than normal
[low rpm]
,
intermittently
- now and then, or not at all
SERVICE NOTE! Due to the strong magnetic force produced by a Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Field, the brass brush
(holder)
tubes can be damaged when removing the armature from one of the affected tools listed above. The armature steel laminations
will be pulled either to the left or right by the magnet and possibility allow the commutator or rear armature ball bearing to bend /
dent the brass brush tube[s], restricting a free movement of the carbon brush in the holder. Before removing the armature you
should retract the brass brush
(holder)
tubes - repositioning the tubes to be flush to sub flush to the inside of motor housing \ cage \
handle half.
The brush tubes of tools received for repair should be checked for damaged. If the brass brush tube is bent or dented the carbon
brush may fail to make a solid and complete contact with the commutator, the tool may run slower than normal
[low rpm]
,
intermittently
- now and then, or not at all.
Should the condition of a stuck / sticking brush occur, remove carbon brush assembly and using a small flat file remove any small
burr from the brush tube caused by the contact from the armature. Reinstall the carbon brush and check to ensure there is free
movement of the carbon brush through the brush tube.
When reassembling the tool the brass brush tubes should be reseated into the motor housing \ cage \ handle half only after the
armature has been re-installed into rear bearing bore – reseat flush with the brush spring clip \ brush cap side of the housing.
