To activate Auto Clock.
turn off the VCR.

• have completed the "Programming channels automatically"
procedure (page 26),
• make sure to leave the ,cable box on and tuned to the local
PBS station (if you use a box); and
• know how to use the menus (page 26).
To use the auto clock function:
O Press the MENU button on the remote control. You will see
the '57CR Main Menu".
O Press the ADJUST buttons to select "First Time Set-Up".
Press the ENTER. button. The "First Time Set-Up" menu will
appear. The words "Set the clock" will be highlighted. Press
the ENTER button.
O You will see the "Set the clock" menu. The words "Clock set"
will be highlighted. Pres,; the ADJUST buttons to select
AUTO.
O Turn the VCR off to activate the auto clock setting function.
The VCR will search for a channel that carries a time signal and
set your time zone and daylight saving time. If there are only a
few channels in your area that carry time sisnals, the setting may
take about 30 minutes to complete. If you turn the VCR on before
the correct time displays, the auto clock setting will be canceled.
You can see if the clock has been set on the fluorescent di,_play on
the VCR.
If the VCR displays the wrong time, the tim_, zone setting may
not be correctly set. To adjust this setting, follow the directions in
"If the VCR displays the wrong time," below.
The auto clock function will activate whenever you turn off the
VCR and at 3:00AM when the VCR power is off. If you use a cable
box, make sure that you leave the cable box on and tuned to the
local PBS station to activate the auto clock fhnction.
After a power failure, the VCR will automat!.cally set the clock
again. (If you have set the "(',lock set" setting of the "Set the clock"
menu to MANUAL, the auto clock function will not work.)

O Follow the procedure above up to step _l. Then, press the
ENTER button.

You will see the auto clock setting menu. The word "Channel"
will be highlighted. If you know the chalmel that canyies a
time signal, press the ADJUST buttons to enter the c,hannel.
Most PBS stations broadcast a time signal. For the fastest
response, enter your local PBS station. ]f you don't l_now it,
leave the channel setting at AUTO. Press the ENTER button.
