Unplug immediately if there is something wrong with your projector. Do not operate if smoke, strange noise or odor comes out of your projector. It may cause fire or electric shock. In this case, unplug immediately and contact your dealer. Never remove the cabinet. This projector contains high voltage circuitry. An inadvertent contact may result in an electric shock. Except as specifically explained in User Manual, do not attempt to service this product by yourself.

Remote control Battery installation Use two AA size batteries. 1. Remove the back cover of the remote control by pushing the battery compartment door in the direction of the arrow. 2. Load the batteries making sure that they are positioned correctly (+ to +, and - to -). • Load the batteries from - spring side, and make sure to set them tightly. 3. Replace the back cover. Caution: • Use of a battery of wrong type may cause explosion.
Installation ENGLISH Layout of the projector Image size varies depending on the distance between the screen and the projector.
Basic connections This projector can be connected with various devices such as a VCR, video camera, videodisc player, and personal computer that have analog RGB output connectors. Important: • Make sure that the connected device is turned off before starting connection. • Plug in the power cords of the projector and the connected devices firmly. When unplugging, hold and pull the plug. Do not pull the cord.
You can project high-quality images by connecting the DVI terminal of this projector to video equipment having a DVI-D output terminal. In addition, this projector supports HDCP and is able to receive encrypted digital video data that are output from DVD players. Preparation for projection 1. Attach the provided power cord to the projector. 2. Plug the power cord in the wall outlet. 3. Remove the lens cap. Warning: • Do not look into the lens directly when the projector is on. • The lens cap is for protecting the lens. If you leave the lens cap on the lens with the projector turned on, it may be deformed because of heat build-up. Remove the lens cap when you turn on the projector. • The power cords for use in the U.S. and Europe are provided with this projector.

Volume from the speaker Use the following procedure to turn off the projector. Do not turn off the projector by unplugging the power cord while the lamp is on. Unplugging while the lamp is on degrades the lamp's performance and causes failure in the projector. 1. Press the POWER button. • The message "POWER OFF? YES : PRESS AGAIN" appears on the screen. • To cancel, press any button except the POWER button. (Some buttons on the remote control don't function for cancel.

The image becomes CONTRAST 0 brighter as the value increases. BRIGHTNESS 0 CineRichColor ...... Use to adjust the white level of the projected image. Select CineRichColor AUTO AUTO for normal use. sRGB .................... Choose ON for projection emphasizing on the color OFF sRGB reproducibility.

Image adjustment You can adjust the image using the IMAGE menu. opt. 5. Press the or button to adjust the color balance of the selected color. Image adjustment (continued) Adjustment of the image from the computer This projector adjusts the format of the video signal supplied from the computer. However, sometimes images are not projected correctly owing to the type of the computer used. When the image from the computer isn't projected correctly, press the AUTO POSITION button. (See page 15.) If the image isn't projected correctly yet, adjust the image from the computer using the menu. opt. XGA60 SIGNAL R RG GB B HORIZ. POSITION 0 VERT.
Expand Picture in Picture (PinP) By pressing the EXPAND button on the remote control, you can magnify the image to view the details. You can view the image in its original size in the REAL mode. • The EXPAND mode doesn't work with video or S-video signal. • The EXPAND mode doesn't function with some input signals. For details, see page 33. EXPAND REAL One of the special features of this projector is the picture-in-picture (PinP) mode.
Advanced features (Continued) Setting of the image displayed during startup or muting You can display your desired image as the startup screen (or splash screen). Using the menu, you can also use such image as a background that is displayed while the video is muted or no signal is supplied. Important: • You can't set IMAGE CAPTURE when PASSWORD FUNCTION in the FEATURE menu has been set to SPLASH ID SCREEN to enable the password lock. Setting procedure 1.
You can install other device's remote commands in the remote control of this projector. How to install 1. Set the SELECT switch of the remote control of this projector to DVD or VIDEO, depending on the device you use. 2. Place the remote control of this projector and that of the other device with their transmission windows 2-5 cm apart. 5. Hold down the button on the other device's remote control whose command you want to install until the MEMORY button start blinking.
Advanced features (Continued) Mouse remote control By connecting to personal computer through the USB port, you can operate your computer with the projector remote control. This projector is equipped with the password function that is designed for prevention of theft and wrong operation by children and restriction on operation by other than specified users. The password function has three modes as follows. DISPLAY INPUT ...........When the projector is turned on, the startup screen (or splash screen) will appear and stay on the screen until the password is entered. When the password is entered, the startup screen will switch to the regular operation screen. MENU ACCESS.........
Lamp replacement When the lamp no longer functions, replace it with a new one. Caution: • Do not remove the lamp immediately after using the projector. You may get burned because the lamp is very hot after use. • Before replacing the lamp, press the POWER button to turn off the lamp and wait for two minutes for the lamp to cool down. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait one hour for the lamp to cool down completely. • Do not remove the lamp except for replacement.
The following offers solutions to some of the common problems you may encounter. We suggest that you consult this chart before contacting your dealer. Images aren't projected on the screen. Troubleshooting (continued) Images aren't projected correctly. Problem Cause and solution Projected images are shaking. Projected images are displaced. • • • • Check that the cable connected to the external device isn't intermittent. Connect the cable's plug with the external device's connector firmly. Press the AUTO POSITION button. Some computers output out-of-spec signals on rare occasion. Adjust the SIGNAL menu. (See page 20.) Projected images are distorted.
Problem Cause and solution Hot air is emitted from the air outlet grilles. • This air comes out as a result of cooling the inside of the projector. This isn't a product malfunc- No audio is output. • Check that the volume isn't set to low. The menu can't be used. • The microcomputers inside the projector may be wrongly operating because of noise. "TEMPERATURE!!" is displayed. • This indication appears when the ambient temperature rises high. When the ambient tempera- tion.
Indicators This projector has two indicators, each of which shows the operation condition of the projector. The following offer solutions to possible problems. If these problem persist, turn the projector off and consult your dealer.
