When power i. applied, the MKl72 goes through an initializing routine that may take from Bfew seconds to as long as a half a minute to complete, depending on water depth when initializing is begun. During initialization, all LCD segments are displayed in the Built·in Test (BIT) mode while the microprocessor is determining bottom depth, and the LCD indicates 18.8.
