3 OPERATING THE CAMERA
3.1 Overview
MOBOTIX cameras do not require any extra software. Thus, you can set up and
operate the MOBOTIX camera using a JavaScript-enabled browser on all com-
mon operating systems (such as Windows, Linux, Macintosh, etc.). As an alterna-
tive, you can also use the MOBOTIX applications MxControlCenter and MxEasy.
Follow these steps in order to set up the camera:
1) Connect the camera to the network (power can be supplied directly via the
network cabling).
2) Set up the camera's network interface:
Manually using a web browser (see section3.3.1)
Automatically using MxControlCenter or MxEasy (see sections3.3.3 and
3.3.4)
3) Configure the camera (using the browser-based user interface).
The following three sections contain brief overviews for the tasks connected with
setting up the camera as well as references to the relevant sections in this manual
which contain more detailed information.
3.1.1 Connecting the Camera to the Network and to the Power Supply
a) With Network Power Adapter and external power supply (sections3.2.3
and 3.2.4):
Suitable for: Connecting one or several cameras to the network or directly to
a computer (without using a switch).
b) With PoE components using the MOBOTIX Network-Power-Rack, MOBOTIX
Network-Power-Box or PoE components according to IEEE 802.3af (sec-
tions3.2.5 and 3.2.6).
Suitable for: Connecting many MOBOTIX cameras.
