Anytime you connect a new camera to the local network, you can initiate the
search in the Open Video Sources dialog again by pushing the
button.
If the desired MOBOTIX cameras are highlighted as
OK in the video source list
(status
OK ), proceed to the Selecting Video Sources section further below.
Configuring MOBOTIX Cameras for a Different Network
Using Bonjour, MxControlCenter finds not only cameras on the same subnet (net-
work range) but also MOBOTIX cameras located in other subnets (status
Dif-
ferent subnet
). In such a case, you would not be able to establish any connection
to cameras in a different network or subnet (without going into much further detail
about the complicated details of TCP/IP network configurations). This is possible,
for example, when a camera with a factory IP address is connected to a network in
which a DHCP server automatically assigns the IP addresses.
Right-click on a camera, then click on
Configure network in the context menu and
MxControlCenter can automatically reconfigure this camera so that it is "inte-
grated" into your existing subnet. However, MxControlCenter first needs some
information about the subnet into which the camera will be integrated. You can
enter this information in the
Configure Cameras dialog.
If your computer gets its IP
address automatically from a
DHCP server, then this is cer-
tainly the best choice for that
specific camera and most likely
for all other cameras which
have been found in a different
subnet (Apply to all selected
cameras checkbox).
If you have assigned a fixed IP
address to your computer, you will most likely prefer to assign fixed IP addresses
(issued by your system administrator) to every camera. In most cases, you should
enter a similar configuration as the one found for your computer's Network Con-
nections in the Properties of Internet protocol (TCP/IP) dialog.
MxControlCenter changes the network configuration of the current camera and,
after a short time, the camera also appears in the list with a new IP address and in
the same subnet as your computer.
Make sure that the Save configuration permanently on camera checkbox is acti-
vated so that the new network settings will be used from now on and not just until
the camera's next reboot
