3.4 Configuring the Camera in the Browser
3.4.1 Overview
You can set up and operate the MOBOTIX camera using a JavaScript-enabled
browser on all common operating systems (such as Windows, Linux, Macintosh,
etc.). The camera provides an HTML-based user interface for this purpose. The
camera executes the changes you make to the camera configuration via HTTP
commands using programs and scripts of the embedded software. The settings
are stored in the camera's flash memory.
This section contains an overview over the first steps for properly configuring the
MOBOTIX camera as well as information on further configuration options. For infor-
mation on configuration steps specific to the D12D-180°, see section2.13.3,

ing the Single Images of a MOBOTIX D12D-180°

Software Manual

for more detailed information on the software features.
3.4.2 The First Configuration Steps
• Run the Quick Installation: After booting the MOBOTIX camera for the first
time, accessing the administration menu (Admin Menu button) will auto-
matically start the Quick Installation wizard. The Quick Installation wizard
helps you in setting the most important parameters of the camera. For secu-
rity reasons, you should set your own administration password and disable
the public access to the camera (see below).
=> (Software Manual, section5.2)
• Disable public access: Guest users are only allowed to access the Guest
screen of the camera without entering a password. If this is not desired, you
should deactivate public access (Quick Installation or Admin Menu> Users
and Passwords).
=> (Software Manual, section5.4.1)
• Add users and assign access rights: Similar to a computer operating sys-
tem you can add users and user groups and assign the desired rights
(Admin Menu> Users and Passwords and Admin Menu> Group Access
Control Lists). This approach allows assigning individual access rights to
camera-specific features based on the user groups.
=> (Software Manual, section5.4.1)
• Deactivate the automatic reboot: In its factory state, every MOBOTIX cam-
era will automatically reboot every morning at 3:36am. If the camera does
not use an external file server, the internal Flash storage or SD cards, but the
internal volatile memory, all recorded images and video sequences will be
deleted when the camera reboots. Make sure that you deactivate the auto-
matic reboot if this is not desired (Admin Menu> Time Tasks).
