Cabs
1. Up to 99 Cabs can be used with the Prodigy Advance DCC system.
2. Each Cab has a large easy-to-read LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
3. Each Cab must be assigned its own address, (#1 - #99) for the system to work properly.
4. Cab address #1 is the master Cab. It can set the time (fast clock and ratios) and it can limit
how many other Cabs can access programming features (programming on the Main Track
and programming on the Program Track).
Note This feature is so that “novice” engineers on your railroad cannot mistakenly reprogram
everything on the layout.
5. The more Cabs in use on the network, the slower the total system response. This is true
with all DCC systems.
Note If you are using 8 Cabs or less, flip the Cab switch on the Base Unit to Cab “#1-#8”. This
tells the system only a small number of Cabs are in use and will speed up the response
time for commands to the locos. Make sure all Cabs have an address from #1 to #8.
6. Each Cab can be set for “Road Throttle” or “Yard Throttle”. This feature enables the Cab user
to use the DIRECTION button on the Cab to change loco direction, as in an “over the road
loco”; or use of the THROTTLE knob to change loco direction for one-handed control of the
loco during yard switching.
Example • Road throttle – THROTTLE knob starts at 0 m.p.h. clockwise to full speed,
counterclockwise back to 0 m.p.h., press direction button to change direction, then throttle
up to speed up again.
• Yard throttle – THROTTLE knob starts at 0 m.p.h. clockwise to full speed,
counterclockwise to 0 m.p.h., continue past 0 m.p.h. counterclockwise to full speed in
reverse. Direction button is not used when in the yard switching throttle mode.
