IMPORTANT NOTE: Lithium polymer batteries are much more volatile than the alkaline, NiCd
and NiMH batteries also used in RC. All instructions and warnings must be followed exactly to
avoid property damage and/or personal injury, as mishandling LiPo batteries can cause res.
By handling, charging or using the supplied battery, you assume all risks associated with LiPo
batteries. If you do not agree with these terms, please return your complete product in new,
unused condition to the place of purchase immediately.
You must read the following safety instructions and warnings before handling, charging or
using the LiPo battery:
Charge the LiPo battery in a safe area away from ammable materials.
Do not be out of reach during the charging process, but monitor the process all the time to
be able to react immediately to any problems that may occur.
After ying/discharging the battery, you must cool it to ambient/room temperature before
recharging. It is also NOT recommended to fully discharge the battery. (LiPo batteries have
no memory and it is safe to charge partially discharged batteries if you use an appropriate
charger and settings).
To charge the battery, use only the supplied charger or an appropriately compatible LiPo
charger. Failure to do so may result in a re, which may cause property damage and/or
personal injury. DO NOT use a NiCd or NiMH charger to charge a LiPo battery.
If at any time during charging or discharging the battery begins to swell or bloat, stop the
process immediately. Quickly and safely disconnect the battery, then place it in a safe, open
area away from ammable materials and observe it for at least 15 minutes. If you continue
to charge or discharge a battery that is even a little bloated, it can cause a re. A battery
that has already become severely inated must be removed from service completely.
Store the battery partially charged (approximately 50% charge/385 V per cell), at room tem-
perature (approximately 68-77 degrees Fahrenheit [F]), and in a dry location for best results.
When transporting or temporarily storing the battery, the temperature should be between
40 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If possible, do not store the battery or model in a hot car or
in direct sunlight. Otherwise, a re may occur.
Do not discharge the LiPo ight battery too much. Discharging the battery to a voltage
that is too low can damage the battery, resulting in reduced performance and ight time or
complete battery failure.
LiPo cells should not be discharged below 3.0 V per cell under load. In the case of the 2-cell/
2S 7.4V LiPo battery used to power the aircraft, do not allow the battery to drop below 6.0V
during ight. The included controller has a „soft“ low voltage cutoff (LVC) that gently
reduces the power to the motor (regardless of the power level set with the throttle) to let
you know that the battery voltage is approaching the 6.0V minimum.
However, if you nd that you need more than the usual amount of throttle/power to y or
climb, you should land the model and disconnect the battery immediately to avoid
over-discharge. Although it may be possible to continue ying the model after soft LVC has
occurred, this is NOT recommended.
Continued discharge may result in reaching „hard“ 5.0 V LVC, which may permanently
damage the LiPo battery, resulting in reduced performance and ight duration in subsequent
bouts (or complete battery failure, which is not covered under warranty). It is also not recom-
mended to approach soft LVC on every ight. Instead, keep an eye on the battery/aircraft
power level throughout the ight, and if at any time the aircraft requires more throttle/power
than usual to maintain cruise or climb speed, you should land the aircraft and disconnect the
LiPo battery immediately.
