4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Signs and Symptoms Of
Exposure:
Eyes: Immediately flush with water (holding eyelids apart) with a large volume of water
for a minimum of 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
Skin: Immediately flush exposed skin with plenty of water while removing contaminated
clothing. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists. Launder clothing
before reuse.
Inhalation: No special requirements. If person has difficulty breathing, move to fresh air.
If person is not breathing, call 911, then give articial respiration.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Drink small amounts of water, if possible. Never
give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician or poison control
center immediately. Get medical attention immediately.
Treatment of overexposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical
condition of the patient.

For small spills: Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. dry sand or earth), then place in a
chemical waste container.
For large spills: Wear appropriate PPE and keep all unecessary personnel out of the
area. Stop spill at the source, dike ahead of the spill if possible, and contain
the spill. Recover as much as possible and use absorbent material to collect the
remaining liquid.
Prevent runoff from entering drains, sewers, or bodies of water.
