AM700 Audio Measurement Set User Manual
Some knowledge of the type of information you want to extract from a measurement
is required to optimize the generator for your testing application. The example
procedure described here uses the Analog generator. The Digital generator can be
used for testing digital audio devices. Setting up Meas 1 for a Level versus
Frequency measurement is the example used, but the procedure for setting up any of
the other available measurements is the same. When closed-loop operation of the
Analyzer is selected (Generator chosen as the sweep source), all the measurements
are globally set to closed-loop.
The following procedure sets up the audio Analyzer:
1. Press the Analyzer button to start the Audio Analyzer application if not already
running.
2. Press the Configure button; then touch the Measurement Setup choice.
a. Select Meas 1 for configuration.
b. Enable Meas 1 if it is not enabled. You can enable all the measurement
choices, but only those you want to define need to be enabled. Disabling
those measurements that are not wanted improves the measurement speed.
3. Define the measurement you want to make in Meas 1. The Quantity and Source
selections are used to define the axes of the graphical display. A common
selection is to make a Level versus Frequency sweep to determine frequency
response. The top Quantity and Source line is used to define the Y-Axis of the
graph. The bottom Quantity and Source line is used to define the X-Axis.
a. On the top line, touch the Quantity choice to display the available Y-axis
choices in a pop-down menu.
b. Select Level (using the large control knob to scroll through the choices).
c. Touch the pop-down area to enable the selection.
d. Touch the Source choice to display the choices in a pop-down menu.
e. Select Channel 1 and touch the pop-down area to enable the selection.
f. On the second line, repeat the previous steps to define the X-Axis. Select
Frequency as the Quantity and Channel 1 as the Source.
4. Touch the Sweep choice to display the Sweep Detection Controls.
a. Enable Sweep Detection.
