b. Select Generator as the Sweep Source (this puts the Analyzer in closed-
loop mode). Notice that all the External Sweep Attributes are grayed out. In
closed-loop mode, the Analyzer controls the sweep timing and pressing the
Sweep/Run button explicitly determines the start of the sweep.
5. Touch the Settled (Global) choice to display the Settling controls.
a. Enable Settling Detector if it is not enabled. The default settings for the
remaining choices can be used as a first guess about what will finally be
needed for your measurement. If you find that Timeout is reached without
finding settled data, you may need to increase the Tolerance setting. Read
the Settled Data Point Detection Controls on page 4-65 and the Sweep
Source information in Sweep Detection Controls on page 4-61 for more
information on each of the possible choices. Generally you must decide on
the Settling choices based on the test being made and the electrical
parameters associated with the device being tested. Some of these are the
following:
H Propagation delay of the signal through the device
H Amount of time it takes for the signal to settle after a step
H Amount of noise or distortion accompanying the signal
H Length of time to wait for a timeout when settled data is not found
H Number of samples to consider in determining if the data is stable
H Minimum amplitude of the signal to be accepted for settling
6. Touch the Enables (Global) choice to display the choices for enabling the
measurements and channels. In this example only Channel 1 is being used and
no THD, IMD, or Wow & Flutter measurements are being made.
a. Enable Channel 1 Measurements and disable the remaining selections.
Notice that if either Channel 1 or Channel 2 is disabled, Stereo Measure-
ments is not an available choice.
7. Touch Accept Changes to make the selections valid. This saves the setup and
exits from the Configuration Menu.
