AM700 Audio Measurement Set User Manual
The following procedure describes how to select the generator and waveforms:
1. Press the Control button in the Generator section of the front panel to display
the Generator Control panel.
a. Select the High Resolution generator. Either analog generator can be
selected as needed for your test requirement. The High Resolution
generator has a range up to 20 kHz and provides a monophonic pair of
signals if Channel B is set to Follow A or a stereo pair if Channel B is set
to produce a signal independently of Channel A. The High Bandwidth
generator goes up to 80 kHz, but can only produce the same signal on both
A and B, not a stereo pair.
b. Set Waveform to Sine on Ch A and to Follow A on Ch B. Follow A is the
only choice with the High Bandwidth generator. Sine waves are used for
the majority of tests made using a sweep signal in closed-loop testing.
c. Enable the Output of both Ch A and Ch B if both are going to be used.
Disable the Output of any generators that are not needed. This prevents
them from sweeping. Remember, all enabled sweeps will run when the
Sweep/Run button is pressed. Having undefined and unneeded sweeps
running can cause some testing delays. For example, if the digital
generators are enabled, the sweep definitions for those generators can have
many more points and include different start and stop frequencies than the
analog generator that you are using for making the test. If those sweeps are
permitted to run, they have to complete before the sweep ends.
2. Touch Waveform Control to display the Waveform Control choices. Two of the
choices are used to set the frequency of a CW signal and amplitude of a fixed
amplitude signal. Since the test signal is a frequency sweep, the Frequency
setting is not required. However, you must set the amplitude of the sweep signal
needed for the test.
a. Select Analog A. The type of signal (Sine) was previously set in the
Generator choices screen. That same selection ability is provided in this
screen so you don’t have to switch between control screens to change to the
signal type.
b. Touch Amplitude and set the amplitude to 0.00000 dBu either using the
control knob or by making a direct keypad entry (the fast way—press 0
then Enter).
