AM700 Audio Measurement Set User Manual
Eye Diagram Display. Use the Eye Diagram display to present a straightforward
indication of the condition of a digital audio interface. Jitter, rise time, and
interfering signal problems are all quite apparent in the Eye Diagram format.
Digital Jitter. Jitter can be present on the interface signal. This is contributed to by
intrinsic clock generator phase noise, jitter amplification due to poor phase-locked-
loop damping, and pattern-dependent jitter induced by high-frequency loss down
long cables. The Jitter Spectrum display is used to check for jitter tolerance of the
serial digital devices. Jitter Spectrum provides a frequency domain display of the
jitter components. The jitter components give you an indication of the possible
sources of jitter such as power-line hum or switching power supply ripple.
Digital Interface Tester Input Configuration
The Input Configuration menu for the Digital Interface Tester is simplified from that
of the FFT Analyzer or Audio Analyzer. Only the Digital Inputs are available for
use with this application so the input configuration provides a screen for making
those selections only. The choices for input signal connector are the front-panel
XLR connector, the rear-panel optical and BNC connectors, and the internal
connection to the AES generator as indicated in Figure 4-56.
