Snap to Data. Snap to Data, when enabled, causes the cursors to be positioned from
data point to data point (not interpolated points) in the trace. When not enabled,
cursors are not held to the acquired data points and they are positioned smoothly
along the trace.
Next Peak and Previous Peak. The Next Peak and Previous Peak soft keys are
available with either cursor active. Next Peak moves the active cursor on the nearest
signal peak to the right of the cursor while showing the frequency and signal level of
the peak in the numerical display. The cursor does not automatically go to the
highest peak; it goes to the next closest peak.
NOTE. In the FFT application, the “finding the peak” functions can miss some peaks
if the Uniform window is in use (refer to Uniform on page 4-82).
Previous Peak. Previous Peak moves the active cursor to the nearest signal peak to
the left of the cursor. The frequency and signal level of the peak is displayed in the
numerical display.
Press the Clear Menu button to exit the cursor menu.
An Average feature is available for use with measurements in the FFT Analyzer and
the Jitter Spectrum function in the Digital Interface Tester. Pressing and releasing
the Average button turns Averaging on and off in applications that can use
averaging. Pressing the Average button when the feature is not available for use has
no effect. Averaging is used to remove random noise from the display trace so that
small amplitude frequency components are easily observed.
To turn on averaging for a trace, first touch the view that contains the trace you want
to average. As indicted by the gold-outlined label, the Average button has two
operations: pressing and releasing turns averaging on or off for the selected view;
pressing and holding the Average button brings up the Average menu as shown in
Figure 2-9. You can select the number of acquisitions to be averaged either using the
control knob or by making a keyboard entry with the Averaging menu number
selection active. Other choices in the averaging menu are Holding Minimum and
Holding Maximum.
