AM700 Audio Measurement Set User Manual
The FFT Analyzer has both FFT Measurement and Multitone Measurement
applications.
FFT Measurements. The FFT Analyzer can display two channels simultaneously.
These displays can either be on separate frequency and amplitude axes or overlaid
onto the same frequency and amplitude axes. Using any combination of analog and
digital inputs set up in the Configure menu, the FFT Analyzer produces displays of
frequency domain data much like those of a spectrum analyzer. The span (band-
width of the FFT display) can be zoomed (expanded or contracted horizontally) and
panned (scrolled left or right through the display).
Multitone Measurements. The multitone mode of the FFT Analyzer uses short
duration test signals composed of multiple tones spread across the audio spectrum to
measure a wide variety of audio system parameters. Differences between known test
signals and the acquired response from the system under test can be rapidly
analyzed to determine frequency response, distortion and noise, and channel
separation. Multitone measurements can be made on any combination of analog or
digital input signals.
Refer to FFT Analyzer beginning on page 4-81 for further information.
All applications including the diagnostics and touch screen calibration are accessible
through the menu displayed when you press the Other button.
The User button has two actions, as indicated by the gold-outlined label. Press and
quickly release the User button to run the application or function you have assigned
to the User button. Press and hold the User button to display the User menu. This
screen displays the available AM700 applications and functions. You can select one
of these to be run when the User button is pressed.
To assign an application or function to the User button, touch the Show Applications
or Show Functions soft key as appropriate to select an application or function. Turn
the control knob to select the application or function you want to assign to the User
button, touch the Set User soft key, and exit the screen by pressing the Clear Menu
button. Now, when you press the User button, the assigned function or application
will run.
