Cleaning
Itisveryimportanttoproperlyandregularlycleanyourstove.Youareburningawoodproductand
thiswillresultintheformationofash,soot,andpotentiallycreosote.Theseby‐productsmustbe
regularlyandconsistentlycleanedandremovedfromthestoveinordertoensurethatyourstove
continuestooperateefficientlyandsafely.
Impropermaintenanceaccountsformostdifficultiesthatpeoplehavewiththestove.Alackof
propermaintenancemayevenresultintheunitnotfunctioningorserioussafetyconcerns.Besure
tofollowallrecommendedmaintenanceinthismanual.Ifyouarenotsureofhowtoperformanyof
theseactionsbesuretospeakwithyourdealerorcontactourtechnicalsupportdepartmentfor
additionalinstructions.
A. HeatExchangeTubes–Yourstoveisdesignedwith
abuilt‐inheatexchangetubecleaner.Thisshould
beuseddailytoremoveaccumulatedashonthe
tubes,whichreducestheefficiencyofyourunit.
Insertthehandleend(withhole)ofthecleaning
toolontothecleaningrod(refertofigure13).The
cleanerrodislocatedinthegrillabovethestove
door.Movethecleanerrodbackandforthseveral
timestocleantheheatexchangertubes.When
finishedbesuretoleavetubecleanerattherearof
thestove.
B. InteriorChambers–Thefourashdoorsinthe
fireboxoftheMonroecanberemovedforperiodic
cleaning(refertofigure14).Thesedoorsallowaccessto
thechamberbehindthefirebox.Youmustalsocleanout
behindthebaffleplates.
Periodically,youmustvacuumashesfromthischamber.
Besuretohaveanattachmentonyourvacuumsothat
youcangetallthewaytotheleftandrightofthese
cleanouts,andallthewayupinsideofthesedoorstothe
topofstove.
INSPECTANDCLEANBEHINDTHESE
CLEANINGPLATESATLEASTONCEPERTON
OFPELLETSBURNED.
Insomecasesyouwillneedtoremove
creosote,whichcanaccumulaterapidlyunder
certainconditions.Asmallwirebrushcanbeused.Usethesmallwirebrushtoalsoclean
theinsideofthechamberwalls,abovetheaccessdoors.
ITISIMPORTANTTOREMOVETHISCREOSOTEBECAUSEITISHIGHLYCOMBUSTIBLE.
