This motorcycle has four forward gears.
To start riding, after the engine has been warmed
and the side stand raised:
1. Close the throttle and squeeze the front brake
lever all the way in.
2. Depress the shift lever from neutral down to
first gear. Once the transmission clicks into gear,
the shift lever will return to the ā€œNā€ position once
you remove your foot.
3. Release the brake lever and slowly and
gradually open the throttle. When you feel the
automatic clutch begin to grab, the motorcycle
starts to ease forward. Gradually open the
throttle more and the clutch will lock completely
as the engine RPM gets higher. The clutch will
automatically engage at idle RPM.
4. When you attain moderate speed, close the throttle and depress the shift lever until it clicks into
second gear. After shifting, re-open the throttle and accelerate.
5. To continue shifting up to each higher gear, repeat step 4.
6. To shift down to a lowe
r gear, close the throttle and raise the shift lever until you feel it click into
gear. After shifting, re-apply the throttle in a smooth motion.
Remember to close the throttle before shifting gears.
Notice: Improper shifting may damage the engine, transmission, and drive train.
Learning when to shift gears will come with riding experience. Up-shift into a higher gear when
you hear the engine speed (RPM) get too high. When engine rpm gets too high in a gear, you will
feel the motorcycle stop accelerating. This is another way to know when to up-shift.
Downshift to a lower gear when you feel the engine lugging at a low RPM. Downshifting is usually
done when you slow down foraturn or when you stop the motorcycle. Downshifting into a lower
gear can help slow down your motorcycle, especially when going downahill. However,
downshifting when the engine RPM is too high can cause engine damage.
The neutral position of the transmission is located before the first gear position. To shift into
neutral, raise the shift lever as many times as needed t
o get into neutral.
To prevent transmission damage, do not coast or tow the motorcycle for long distances with
engine off.
Never attempt to start the engine in gear. Doing so may cause a crash that could
result in serious injury or death.
