3 .5 Ove rview of I nsta lla t ion and Test ing Pr ocess
The inst allat ion and test ing process is accom plished by perform ing a series of separate,
yet interrelat ed, procedures, each of which is required for t he successful im plem entation
of a product ion Event - HD net work. These procedures are as follows:
Site Evaluation: gathering specific inform ation about potential Event- HD radio
installat ion sites.
Cable and I nst allat ion: Test ing and inst alling ODU cables and optional interface
devices at inst allat ion sites.
Event - HD ODU Mount ing and Alignm ent : Mount ing ODUs t o a pole or wall, perform ing
link alignm ent and radio frequency ( RF) verification.
Event- HD Digital Radio Configuration: Using Event - HD Link Manager soft ware to
install net work- and site- specific param eters in the radios.
Event- HD Digital Radio Test ing: Perform ing cable continuit y checks and RF test s for
links, the payload/ radio overhead channel, and t he m anagem ent channel.
The following diagram shows where inst allat ion and com m issioning resides within the
Event- HD network deploym ent life cycle and defines the sequence in which t he processes
that com prise inst allat ion and com m issioning should be perform ed.
