3 .6 .6 .2 5 .3 GHz Ba n d
I n t he 5.3 GHz U- NI I band t he peak EI RP (Effective I sotropic Radiat ed Power) is lim ited
to + 30 dBm at t he antenna for bandwidt hs above 20 MHz and is reduced for narrower
bandwidt hs in accordance with FCC part 15.407a(3) .
The inst aller is responsible during set up of t ransm it pow er t o not exceed FCC lim its on
transm ission power. These m axim um power levels are provided in Table 3- 1 for bot h
internal ant enna and external ant enna ODU configurations, along with the operational
bandwidt hs.
Note t hat though regulatory lim its are st ated in t erm s of peak power, t he syst em
transm it power levels are calibrated as averaged power readings. Average power is used
for link calculations. Therefore the levels provided in the following table is average power
levels t hat have been cert ified t o correspond w ith t he m axim um peak EI RP allowed.
3 .6 .6 .2 .1 ODU w it h I nt e r na l Ant enna
Table 3- 3 indicates t he m axim um average t ransm it power set t ing that m ay be select ed
ODU 5300 with internal (23 dBi) antenna.
The num ber of support ed channels per band ( low band or high band) is show n in t he link
configuration wizard. The greater num ber of channels support ed t he lower t he emission
bandwidt h for each channel.
For link budget , EI RP( Avg) = 23 dBi + Tx Power Setting (dBm ) .
3 .6 .6 .2 .2 ODU w ith Ext er na l Ant enna
When using ext ernal ant ennas with gains greater t han 23 dBi, the transm it power m ust
be reduced in dB from t hat given in Table 3-3 by the ant enna gain difference above 23
dBi for t he m ode that is being used.
For exam ple, using a 6 foot dish antenna with 37 dBi gain, the out put power would be
dropped by
Antenna Gain ( Ext ernal) 23 dBi = Ant enna Gain Difference
37.6 dBi 23 dBi = 14.6 dB
For m ode 100FE1 (single channel configuration with 30MHz em ission bandwidt h) the
power would be lowered from
Tx Power ( I nternal Ant enna) Ant enna Gain Difference = Tx Power (External Ant )
+ 5 dBm 14.6 dB = - 9.6 dBm ( - 10 dBm ) .
Table 3- 3 also present s transm it power set t ings for various antenna dish sizes.
