General Radio Operation

Zones and Channels

A zone is a grouping of channels. A channel is a group of radio

characteristics, such as transmit/receive frequency pairs.

Before you use your radio to receive or send messages, you should

select the zone.

Select a Zone

Select a Channel

1 If a control on your radio has

been preprogrammed as the

Zone Switch, move the

Zone Switch to the position

for the zone you want.

Note: If the zone you select is

unprogrammed, repeat

this step.

• Long, medium-pitched tone

1 After you select the zone you

want, turn the

preprogrammed Channel

Selector knob to the desired

channel.

2 If the channel you select is

unprogrammed, select a

different channel.
