1. Getting started IMPORTANT Do not place your O1 in the bathroom or other humid areas. Location You need to place your O1 base within 2 metres of the mains power and telephone wall sockets so that the cables will reach. The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible. Make sure that it is at least 1 metre away from other electrical appliances to avoid interference. Your O1 works by sending radio signals between the handset and base.
Connecting the base 1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked on the underside of the base. 2. Plug the mains power adaptor into the socket marked on the underside of the base and plug the other end into the mains power wall socket. The green Power/In use light comes on and you will hear a confirmation tone. Installing and charging the handset 1. Make sure the battery ribbon is laying flat inside the battery compartment and insert the 2 x AAA rechargeable Ni-MH battery cells supplied.
compartment and insert in the correct direction. 3. Replace the battery cover: hook the two plastic clips into place first, then lower and screw the cover into place. Finally, screw the belt clip on. You can use a coin, e.g. 10c piece if you do not have a screwdriver. 4. If you are charging the batteries for the first time, place the handset on the charger to charge for at least 24 hours continuously. 5. When the handset is fully charged, icon will appear steady on the display.
When charging, icon will scroll on the display, once the battery is fully charged the icon will stop scrolling. BATTERY PERFORMANCE In ideal conditions, fully charged batteries should give up to 10 hours talk time or up to 150 hours standby time on a single charge1. Note that new batteries do not reach their full capacity until they have been put to normal use for several days. To keep your batteries in the best condition, leave the handset off the base for a few hours at a time.

When on an external call, press Recall to get a fresh dialling tone or to access call waiting when you hear the signal. Press the key again to toggle between your two callers. 3. Using the phone NOTE Your handset will automatically time the duration of all external calls. The handset display shows the call duration both during and for a few seconds after your call. 3.1 Switch the handset power on/off To switch off Press and hold R until the display goes off. To switch on: Press and hold R for 3 seconds and the display will come back on. 3.2 Make an external call When you make a call, the backlight on the handset display comes on and the In Use light on the base flashes.
If your handset is off the charger, press <. NOTE As long as you have auto answer set to ON you can just pick the handset up off the charger to answer a call. If you have switched it off, you will need to press <. Auto answer ON is the default setting. See page 22 for more information on auto-answer. 3.6 Earpiece volume During a call you can adjust the volume of the earpiece/handset receiver. There are 5 volume levels to choose from. 1. Press u to increase or d to decrease the volume. 3.
3.10.1 Dial a number from the redial list 1. Press u. The last number called is displayed. 2. Use u or d to scroll through the redial list to the number you want. 3. Press < to redial. NOTE To exit the redial list at any time, press . Redial numbers can be up to 32 digits long. Only the first 12 digits will be displayed, if there are more than 12 digits, the u symbol will be displayed. Press to view the remaining digits. 3.10.2 Delete a number from the redial list 1. Press u.
To unlock the keypad: 1. Press any key. The display shows Press 2. Press . within 3 seconds to unlock the keypad. NOTE You can also lock the keypad using the handset settings menu, see page 22. IMPORTANT If the keypad is locked you will NOT be able to dial the emergency numbers. 3.12 Switch the torch on/off To help you see in dark or poorly lit environments, you may find the torch a handy feature. IMPORTANT Never look directly at the torch light, or shine it into the eyes as the light is very bright.
4. Phonebook You can store up to 100 names and numbers in the phonebook. Names can be up to 12 characters long and numbers up to 24 digits. You can also select from 10 different ringtones for phonebook entries. 4.1 Store a phonebook name and number 1. Press to open the main menu. 2. Phonebook is displayed, press 3. NOTE To see the number before dialling, with the entry name displayed, press If the number has more than 12 digits, press . to view the remaining digits. 4.3 Edit a phonebook name or number 1. 5. Handset settings 5.1 Keypad beeps Your O1 phone has a selection of beeps / warning tones which can be set to on, to alert you to certain situations: Key tones – where a beeps sounds every time a keypad button is pressed (to confirm the button press). Low battery warning tone – a beep alerts you when the batteries are low and need recharging. Out of range tone – when the handset moves too far from the base and goes out of communication range a warning tone will sound. 1. Press to open the main menu.
5.4 Handset name You can give your handset a name to personalise it if you are using more than one handset. The maximum number of characters is 10. 1. Press to open the main menu. 2. Press u or d until Handset is displayed, then press . 3. Press u or d to display Handset Name and press . 4. The existing handset name is displayed, followed by a flashing cursor. Use to delete the current name and enter a name using the keypad, then press confirm. 5. Press to repeatedly to exit and return to standby.

6. Base settings 6.1 Base ringer volume The base has 6 ringer volume settings: Off and 1–5 where, 1=low and 5=high. 1. Press to open the main menu. 2. Press to confirm. repeatedly to exit and return to standby. NOTE You will hear a sample ring at the base for all settings (except Off). 6.
Contact your PBX/Switchboard provider if you are unsure which setting to use. 1. Press to open the main menu. 2. Press u or d until Setup is displayed, then press . 3. Press u or d to select Dial Mode and press . 4. Use u or d to highlight the dial mode you want and press selection. 5. Press to confirm your repeatedly to exit and return to standby. NOTE If the dial mode is set to pulse dialling you can switch temporarily to tone dialling for the duration of the call.

7. Clock & alarm 7.1 Set the date 1. Press to open the main menu. 2. Press u or d until Date & Time is displayed, then press 3. Set Date is displayed, press . . 4. Enter the date (dd/mm) e.g. for 15th February, press 1, 5, 0, 2, then press 5. Press . repeatedly to exit and return to standby. 7.2 Set the time Your O1 uses the 24 hour clock. If you subscribe to a Caller Display Service from your network provider the time will be set when you receive your first call. 1. Press to open the main menu.
8. Caller ID and the Calls list IMPORTANT To use Caller ID, you must first subscribe to the service from your network provider. A subscription fee may be payable. To ensure that the caller’s name is displayed, make sure you have stored the full telephone number, including the area code in the phonebook. If the caller’s number is stored in the phonebook, the name assigned to it will be displayed. If the call is a withheld call, Withheld will be displayed.
To dial a displayed number, press <. The number will be dialled automatically. Or To exit and return to standby, press . When all new calls have been viewed the symbol will desappear from the display. 8.2.2 Copy a Calls list number to the phonebook 1. Press d. The most recently received number or name is displayed. If you answered the call, you will see the symbol. If the call was not answered, you will see the symbol. 2. Use u or d to scroll through the list to the number you want to store. 3.
9. Using additional handsets You can use up to five GAP compatible handsets with your O1 base to extend your phone system without needing to install extension sockets for each new phone. Your O1 handset can be registered to up to 4 bases. You can then select the base you would prefer to use. You need to register any additional handsets you purchase to your O1 base. NOTE Additional handsets must be fully charged before attempting to register. 9.1 Registering a new O1 handset At the base: 1.
NOTE Handsets must be GAP compatible to be able to be registered to your O1 base. 9.3 Registering your O1 handset to another base 1. Follow the instructions shown in the other manufacturer’s guide to put the base into registration mode. 2. Follow steps 2 to 6 of “Registering a new O1 handset” on page 31 to register the handset. 9.4 Select a base If your O1 handset is registered to more than one base, you can select which base to use.
At the called handset, the symbol flashes and the calling handsets number is displayed. The user can press < to answer the call. 3. Press < to end the call. NOTE If you enter an invalid handset number, the display will return to standby. 9.7 Transferring calls You can transfer an external call to another handset registered to the base. During a call: 1. Press . The external caller will be put on hold and will hear a tone. 2. Enter the internal handset number that you want to transfer the call.
10. Help No dial tone • • • Use only the telephone line cord supplied. Check that the telephone line cord is connected properly. Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on. No display • • • • • • Check that the batteries are inserted correctly and fully charged. Use only approved rechargeable batteries supplied. Check that the handset is switched on. Press and hold R. Reset the base by removing the batteries and disconnecting the mains power.
Handset does not ring • The handset ringer volume may be set to Off, see page 21. Base unit does not ring • The base ringer volume may be set to Off, see page 24. Noise interference on my phone or on other electrical equipment nearby • Place your O1 at least one metre away from electrical appliances or any metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.
11. General information IMPORTANT This equipment is not designed for making emergency telephone calls when the power fails. Alternative arrangements should be made for access to emergency services. This product is intended for connection to analogue public switched telephone networks and private switchboards in Singapore.
Installation Guidelines • • • • • • • • • • Read and understand all instructions and save them for future reference. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product. Do not install this product near a bath tub, sink, or shower. Operate this phone using only the power source that is indicated on the marking label. If you are unsure of the power supply to your home, consult with your dealer or local power company. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table.
Environmental • • • • • • Do not expose to direct sunlight. The handset may become warm when the batteries are being charged or during prolonged periods of use. This is normal. However, we recommend that to avoid damage you do not place the product on antique/veneered wood. Do not stand your product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fibres, or place it in locations preventing the free flow of air over its surfaces.

Only batteries whose fully charged capacity falls below 80% of their rated capacity and batteries that leak are covered by this limited warranty. Abuse & Misuse. Defects or damage that result from: (a) improper operation, storage, misuse or abuse, accident or neglect, such as physical damage (cracks, scratches, etc.
12. Wall mounting IMPORTANT Before you wall-mount your O1, check that you are not drilling into any hidden wiring or pipes. Before you drill, make sure the power and telephone line cables will reach the sockets. 1. Use the following templates to mark the drilling locations. • To wall-mount the base, drill two holes in the wall 4.9cm apart horizontally using an 8mm drill bit. 4.9cm 4.9cm 3cm • To wall-mount the charger, drill two holes in the wall 3.0cm apart horizontally using an 8mm drill bit. 4.
2. Insert the wall plugs if necessary, then insert the screws leaving about 5mm protruding from the wall on which to hang the phone. 3. Pull the base/charger out of the stand and slot the holes on the back of the base over the screw heads and gently pull the base/charger down to make sure it is securely in place.
