Zooming in this far makes it easy to make precise edits on individual
samples.
Use the zoom controls shown in Figure 44-1 on
page 504 to zoom the waveform:
Click the +/- zoom buttons in the lower right
corner to zoom horizontally or vertically. (Press on
them continuously to zoom continuously.)
Click the Zoom to Selection (magnifying glass)
button in the lower right corner to fill the window
with the current time range selection.
Click the Zoom to Active soundbite button
(soundbite icon) in the lower right corner to fill the
window with the currently active soundbite (in the
soundbite layer).
Click the Zoom to File button (file icon) in the
lower right corner to zoom back out all the way.
The Wave for m zoom menu lets you zoom in on a
smaller vertical range. Notice that the ruler scales
with the waveform.
There are many additional ways to zoom the
waveform display:
Drag over the waveform with the Zoom tool in
the Tool palette
Drag in the time ruler with the Zoom tool to
zoom in horizontally only
Use the many commands in the View menu >
Zoom sub-menu as explained in “Zooming” on
page 317 and “Zoom menu shortcuts” on
page 317.
SELECTING WITH THE I-BEAM CURSOR
To get the I-Beam cursor, click the Pointer tool in
the Tool palette (Figure 44-1 on page 504).
Making selections with the I-Beam cursor
Dragging the I-Beam cursor in the waveform
display or the overview makes a selection.
In a stereo or multichannel waveform, hold down
the Command/Ctrl key to select just one channel.
Selecting by the numbers
Use the Selection Information window (“Selection
Information on page 343) to make precise,
numerical selections.
Scrubbing while selecting
It is also possible to scrub while making selections.
