8.7 Inspection of Fan Motor
(1) Condenser fan motor
• Measure resistance across the terminals of the
fan motor. (All terminals must be disconnected
from the unit.)
• Between terminals (at 77 °F (25 °C))
- J6-CF11 Approx. 12.1 ohm
- J6-CF12 Approx. 12.1 ohm
- CF11-CF12 Approx. 24.1 ohm
• If the measured resistance is not equal to these
standard values, replace the fan motor.
(2) Evaporator fan motor
• Measure resistance across the terminals of the
fan motor. (All terminals must be disconnected
from the unit.)
• Between terminals (at 77 °F (25 °C))
- J8-CF21 Approx. 19.7 ohm
- J8-CF22 Approx. 48.5 ohm
- CF21-CF22 Approx. 68.0 ohm
• If the measured resistance is not equal to these
standard values, replace the fan motor.
8.8 Inspection of Compressor Motor
• Measure resistance across the terminals of the
compressor motor. (All terminals must be
disconnected from the unit.)
• Between terminals (at 77 °F (25 °C))
- R-C Approx. 0.4 ohm
- C-S Approx. 0.6 ohm
- S-R Approx. 0.9 ohm
• If the measured resistance is not equal to these
standard values, replace the compressor. The
overload relay is internal to the compressor.
