The concept behind the SC/ ST port and cable is quit e st raight forwar d.
Suppose you are connect ing devices I and I I . As opposed to elect rical
signals, opt ical signals do not require a circuit in or der to t ransm it dat a.
Consequent ly, one of t he opt ical lines is used t o t r ansm it dat a fr om
device I t o device I I , and t he other opt ical line is used t ransm it dat a
from device I I t o dev ice I , for full- duplex t r ansm ission.
All you need to rem em ber is t o connect t he Tx (transm it ) por t of device
I t o the Rx ( receive) por t of dev ice I I , and t he Rx ( receive) port of
device I t o t he Tx ( t ransm it) p ort of device I I . I f you are m ak ing y our
own cable, we suggest labeling the t wo sides of t he sam e line w it h t he
sam e letter (A- to- A and B- to- B, as shown by t he following illust rat ion,
or A1- t o- A2 and B1- to- B2) .
