GeneralService: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. ,_ Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly gas. Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, make certain the blade and all moving parts have stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground against the engine to prevent unintended starting. Check the blade and engine mounting bolts at frequent intervals for proper tightness. Also, visually inspect blade for damage (e.g.

Be certain to service engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual before operating your mower. To secure the upper and lower handle, tighten the wing nuts near the top of lower handle (carriage bolts must be seated properly into the handle) .
InstallingFrontWheels Place the front of the mower deck on raised blocks. Lower the chute deflector carefully to its operating position keeping your fingers out of the way. Remove lock nut from pivot arm assembly, slide wheel onto pivot arm assembly and secure with lock nut. See Figure 6. Assemble the other side in the same manner. Raise Deflector If your mower is equipped with hub caps, place hub caps in position against the inner hub of wheel.

Maintenance Removingthe Blade Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug. Turn mower on its side making sure that the air filter and the carburetor are up. Remove the bolt and the blade bell support which hold the blade and the blade adapter to the engine crankshaft. See Figure 14. Remove the blade and the adapter from the crankshaft. NOTE: When tipping the unit or emptying the fuel tank keep the air cleaner side of engine up.
