SECTION3: ASSEMBLING YOURLAWNMOWER RemovingUnitFromCarton Remove staples, break glue on top flaps, or cut tape at carton end and open carton. Remove loose parts if included with unit (i.e., operator's manual, etc.) Cut along corners, lay the carton down flat, and remove all packing material. SECTION5: OPERATING YOURLAWNMOWER _bb Pull rope with a rapid, continuous, full arm stroke. Keeping a firm grip on the starter handle, let the rope rewind slowly. WARNING: understand, and follow all instructions andRead, warnings on the machine and in this manual before operating. StoppingEngine NOTE: You must service the engine with oil and gasoline before starting the mower for the first time. Check oil and gasoline levels and fill up as necessary for subsequent starts.

Removingthe Blade Balancingthe Blade Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug. Turn mower on its side making sure that the air filter and the carburetor are up. Remove the bolt and the blade bell support which hold the blade and the blade adapter to the engine crankshaft. See Figure 14. Remove the blade and the adapter from the crankshaft. The blade can be tested by balancing it on a round shaft screwdriver. Remove metal from the heavy side until it balances evenly.
Rear DischargeDoor Clean and lubricate mower thoroughly as described in the lubrication instructions. Lubricate the torsion spring and the pivot point on each end of the rear discharge door using a light oil. This will prevent rusting of the discharge door. IMPORTANT: We do not recommend the use of a pressure washer or garden hose to clean your unit. EngineCare Refer to engine manual for correct engine storage instructions. _ Coat mower's cutting blade with chassis grease to prevent rusting.
