For shippingpurposes,the chutedeflectoron your
moweris heldin anuprightpositionbya retainer.
Removethe retaineras follows:
a. Pullchutedeflectorupandbacktowardsengine.
Holdingdeflectorinthisposition,removethe
retaineranddiscard.SeeFigure3-1.
b. Lowerthe chutedeflectorcarefullykeepingyour
fingersout of the way.
c. If wantingto side dischargegrassclippings,remove
the mulchplug. Referto theAdjustmentsectionon
the followingpagefor instructions.

Performthe followingsequencefor handlesetup:
a. Liftthe upperhandleupfromthe foldedposition
andpullit backto the extendedposition.See
Figure3-2. The handleshouldclick into this
position.
b. Makesurethe carriageboltis seatedproperlyin
the handle.Tightenstarknobsto secureupper
handleto the lowerhandle
Followthe stepsbelowto securethe lowerhandleto
the handlemountingbrackets:
a. Positioneach handlebracketstudintothe top or
bottomholeinthe lowerhandle.SeeFigure3-3.
b. Tightenthe starknobs.

NOTE:Thehandleheightmaybeadjustedat anytimeby
movingthe studon eachbracketto the otherholeon each
sideof the lowerhandle.
4. Tosecurecablesto lowerhandle,wrapcablesaround
lowerhandleusingthe cabletie.Pullcabletie tightand
trimexcess.See Figure3-4.
