6. Carefullyremovethehexnutandwasherwhichsecuresthehexshaftto
thesnowthrowerframeandtightlytaptheshaft'sendtodislodgetheban
bearingfromthe rightsideoftheframe.SeeFigure33.
NOTE:Becarefulnotto damagethethreadsontheshaft.
7. Carefullypositionthehexshaftdownwardandto the[eft beforecarefully
slidingthefrictionwheelassemblyofftheshaft.SeeFigure34.
NOTE:If you'rereplacingthefrictionwheelassemblyasawhole,discardthe
wornpartandslidethenewpartontothehexshall
8. Followthestepsaboveinreverseorderto reassemblecomponents.
9. Performthetest previouslydescribedintheDriveControlsection.
Ifyou'redisassemblingthefrictionwheelandreplacingonlytherubberring,
proceedasfollows:
NOTE:Notallfrictionwheelsareserviceable.If thisisthecase,simplyreplacethe
frictionwheelassembly.
1. Removethefourscrewswhichsecurethefrictionwheel'ssideplates
together.SeeFigure35.
2. Removetherubberringfrombetweentheplates.
3. Reassemblethesideplateswith anewrubberring.
NOTE:Whenreassemblingthefriction wheelassembly,makesurethat the
rubberringiscenteredandseatedpropertybetweenthesideplates.Tighten
eachscrewonlyonerotationbeforeturningthewheelclockwiseand
proceedingwith thenextscrew.Repeatthis processseveraltimesto ensure
theplatesaresecuredwith equalforce(between6ft-[bsand9ft-[bs).
4. Slidethefrictionwheelassemblybackontothehexshaftandfollowthe
stepsaboveinreverseorderto reassemblecomponents.
5. Performthetest previouslydescribedintheDriveControlsection.
