Operation
1. Do notputhands andfeet nearrotatingpartsor inthe feedingchambers
and dischargeopening.Contactwiththe rotatingimpellercan amputate
fingers,hands,andfeet.
2. Beforestartingthe machine,makesurethe chipperchute,feed intake,and
cuttingchamberareemptyandfree of alldebris.
3. Thoroughlyinspectall materialto beshreddedand removeanymetal,
rocks,bottles,cans,or otherforeignobjectswhichcouldcause personal
injuryor damageto the machine.
4. If the impellerstrikesaforeign objector ifyour machineshouldstart
makingan unusualnoiseorvibration,immediatelyshutthe engineoff.
Allowthe impellerto cometo a completestop. Disconnectthespark plug
wire,groundit againstthe engineand performthe followingsteps:
a. Inspectfor damage.
b. Repairor replaceanydamagedparts.
c. Checkfor anyloosepartsandtightento assurecontinuedsafe opera-
tion.
5. Do notallowanaccumulationof processedmaterialto buildup in the
dischargearea.This canpreventproperdischargeand resultin kickback
of materialthroughthefeed opening.
6. Do notattempttoshredor chipmateriallargerthan specifiedonthe
machineor inthis manual.Personalinjuryor machinedamagecould
result.
7. Neverattemptto unclogeitherthefeed intakeor dischargeopeningwhile
theengineis running.Shuttheengineoff, waituntil all movingpartshave
stopped,disconnectthe sparkplugwire andgroundit againstthe engine
beforeclearingdebris.
8. Neveroperatewithoutvacuumbag anddischargechuteproperlyattached
to the machine.Neveremptyor changevacuumbagwhilethe engineis
running.Zipperedendof vacuumbagmustbe keptclosedat alltimes
duringoperation.
9. Neveroperatewithouteitherthe inlet nozzleoroptionalhoseattachment
properlyattachedtothe machine.Neverattemptto attachor changeeither
attachmentwhilethe engineis running.
10.Keepall guards,deflectorsandsafetydevicesin placeandoperating
properly.
11.Keepyour faceand bodybackandto the side ofthechipperchute while
feedingmaterialintothe machineto avoidaccidentalkickbackinjuries.
12.Neveroperatethis machinewithoutgoodvisibilityor light. Alwaysbesure
of yourfootingand keepa firm holdon the handles.
13.Do notoperatethis machineon a gravelsurface.
14.Do notoperatethis machinewhile underthe influenceof alcoholordrugs.
15.Mufflerand enginebecomehotand can causea burn. Donottouch.
16.Neverpickupor carrymachinewhiletheengineis running.
Maintenance & Storage
1. Nevertamperwith safetydevices.Checktheir properoperationregularly.
2. Checkboltsandscrewsfor propertightnessat frequentintervalstokeep
the machinein safeworkingcondition.Also,visuallyinspectmachinefor
anydamageand repair,if needed.
3. Beforecleaning,repairing,or inspecting,stoptheengineand makecertain
the impellerand allmovingpartshavestopped. Disconnectthespark plug
wire and groundit againstthe engineto preventunintendedstarting.
4. Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsoroverspeedthe engine.The
governorcontrolsthe maximumsafeoperatingspeedofthe engine.
5. Maintainor replacesafetyand instructionlabels,as necessary.
6. Followthis manualfor safeloading,unloading,transporting,andstorage
of this machine.
7. Neverstorethe machineorfuel containerinsidewherethere is anopen
flame,sparkor pilotlight suchas a water heater,furnace,clothes dryer,
etc.
8. Alwaysreferto the operator'smanualfor properinstructionsonoff-season
storage.
9. Ifthe fuel tank hasto bedrained,dothis outdoors.
10.Observeproperdisposallawsand regulationsfor gas, oil,etc.to protect
the environment.
Do not modify engine
Toavoidseriousinjuryor death,do notmodifyenginein anyway.Tampering
withthe governorsettingcanleadto a runawayengineandcauseitto operate
at unsafespeeds.Nevertamperwithfactorysettingof enginegovernor.
