SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS To reduce fire hazards, keep machine free of grass, leaves, or other debris MAINTENANCE & STORAGE build-up. Clean up oil or fuel spillage and remove any fuel soaked debris. . Never store the machine or fuel container inside where there is an open Check bolts and screws for proper tightness at frequent intervals to keep the machine in safe working condition. Also, visually inspect machine for any damage and repair, if needed.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS SPARK ARRESTOR A. WARNING This machine is equipped with an internal combustion engine and should not be used on or near any unimproved forest-covered, brushcovered or grass-covered land unless the engine’s exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrestor meeting applicable local or state laws (if any). If a spark arrestor is used, it should be maintained in effective working order by the operator.
ASSEMBLY IMPORTANT: This unit is shipped without gasoline or oil in the engine. Be certain to service engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the Operation section of this manual before operating your machine. 2 NOTE: Reference to right and left hand side of the Chipper Shredder is observed from the operating position. A. Lift hopper assembly up to impeller bracket assembly. See Figure 2. B. Slide the release rod out slightly to hook the hopper bracket onto the rod. See Figure 2. C.
ASSEMBLY 2. A. Align the chute deflector in position on the discharge opening and insert hex bolt with spacer through hinge on chute deflector (spacers fit inside of hinges). See Figure 4. 2. A. ASSEMBLY 4, The chipper shredder was shipped with one end of the support brace already secured to the lower frame. Loosen but do not remove the bolts securing the Attaching The Bag brace to the frame. A. Align the holes in the chute with the holes in the top of the brace and 1. attach brace to chipper chute with hardware previously removed. The flat washers should be placed under the bolt heads and against the inside surface of the plastic chipper chute. Tighten securely. See Figure 7. \ (— Toattach

These are described below and illustrated on this page. A ECT Ne This knowledge will allow you to use your new equipment to its fullest potential.
OPERATION Gas And Oil Fill-Up A CAUTION Oil (one bottle shipped with unit) Alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can attract moisture which leads to separation and formation of acids during storage. Acidic gas can damage the fuel system of an engine while in storage. First Time Use 1. Remove oil fill plug. 2. With the chipper shredder on level ground, use a funnel to empty entire contents of oil bottle provided into the engine. 3. Replace oil fill plug and tighten.
OPERATION NOTE: For best performance, always operate the unit with sharp chipper blades. ifa noticeable loss in performance is encountered while chipping branches, the chipper blades should be replaced. NOTE: You will hear a noise as the engine finds the start of the compression cycle. The noise is caused by the chipping and shredding flails, and you will hear it until the engine impeller reaches full speed. 7. Lowering The Hopper Assembly Pull the rope with a rapid, continuous, full arm stroke.

Wait until all moving parts have come to a complete stop. Disconnect spark plug wire and ground it against the engine to prevent unintended starting. Always wear safety glasses during operation or while performing any adjustments or repairs. Tae Follow the maintenance schedule given below. This chart describes service guidelines only.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE To Drain Oil Servicing the Air Cleaner 7Wee tity Do not use pressurized air or solvents to clean the air cleaner cartridge. 1. Run the engineto warm the oil. 2. With engine OFF but still warm, disconnect the spark plug wire and keep it away from spark plug. 3, Remove oil drain cap located at the base of the engine, and drain oil into an appropriate receptacle. See Figure 13. The air cleaner prevents damaging dirt, dust, etc.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE REMOVING THE FLAIL SCREEN Service Muffler 7 MS 7NS Before performing any type of maintenance on the machine, wait for all parts to stop moving and disconnect the spark plug wire. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury or property damage. Temperature of muffler and nearby areas may exceed 150° F (65°C). Avoid these areas. Inspect muffler every 50 hours, and replace if necessary.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE 5. 6. Rotate impeller assembly by hand until you locate one of two chipper blades in the chipper chute opening. 5. Remove the blade by removing the internal hex screws, lock washers, and hex nuts which secure it to the impeller. Retain the hardware. See Figure 15. Carefully separate the hopper assembly from the impeller assembly and remove the shredder plate. The shredder plate can be identified by referring to item 29 in the parts list on page 20 & 21.
OFF-SEASON STORAGE A WARNING Never store chipper shredder with fuel in tank indoors or in poorly ventilated areas where fuel fumes may reach an open flame, spark, or pilot lightas ona furnace, water heater, clothes dryer, or gas appliance. Use solamente de servicio API aceite segtin la operacion para y evita que los mismos sean introducidos dentro del motor. Ademés, dicho filtro es importante para la vida util y el rendimiento del motor. No ponga nunca en funcionamiento el motor sin haber montado totalmente el filtro de aire.
