8. Secure the recoil handle to the rope using two half

hitch knots. See Figure 6.11.

9. Release the slip knot.

10. Install the pulley retainer using a deep socket to

apply even pressure to the retainer while driving it

into place. See Figure 6.12.

NOTE: The central post has a shoulder on it that

acts as a stop for the pawl nut. Drive the

pawl nut down till it stops. See Figure 6.13.

11. Test the operation of the starter recoil.

12. Install the starter housing assembly be following the

procedures described in the previous section of this

chapter.

13. Test run the engine before returning it to service.
