5. Rotate the flywheel so that the magnets are away
from the module.
6. Remove the two screws that secure the ignition mod-
ule to the block using a T-20 torx driver.
See Figure 8.4.
7. Remove the module.
8. Remove the flywheel by applying a sharp blow to the
crankshaft while gently prying upward with a pry bar.
The flywheel will loosen then lift it off. See Figure 8.5.
NOTE: If replacing a short block, exchange the crankcase
and cylinder with the short block and follow the
previous steps in reverse order.
9. Remove the muffler using a T-27 torx driver or a 5/
16” wrench. See Figure 8.6.

Never strike the crankshaft
directly with a hammer. To pre-
vent damage to the crankshaft
use a brass punch or a piece of wood
between the hammer and the crankshaft.
