Adding ADJUSTMENTS Oil Chute Assembly The pitch of thechute assemblycontrolstheangle at whichthe snow isthrown. Theengineis shippedwithoutoil in theengine.Youmustfill the enginewith oil beforeoperating.Runningthe enginewith insufficient oil can causeseriousenginedamageand void the productwarranty. 1. 1. Removethe sparkplug bootand usea spark plugwrenchto removethe plug,Figure14. Thoroughlywash yourhandswith soapand wateras soon as possibleafter handlingusedoil. NOTE:Pleasedisposeof usedmotoroil in a mannerthat is friendlyto the environment.Takeit to a recyclingcenteror othercollectioncenter. Oil Recommendations © Whenaddingoil to the engine,refertothe viscositychart below (Figure13).Engineoil capacity is600 rnl (approx.20 oz.). Donot over-fill.
4. 5. Checkthatthesparkplugwasherisin goodconditionandthreadthe spark plugin by handto preventcross-threading. Afterthe sparkplug is seated,tightenwith a spark plugwrenchto compressthe washer. . Loosenthefour lock nuts and bolts whichsecurethe shave plateto the housing.See Figure16.Movethe shaveplateto the desiredpositionand retightenthe nuts and bolts securely. NOTE:Wheninstallinga newsparkplug,tighten 1/2-turnafter the spark plugseatsto compressthe washer.
Control Cable 2. As a resultof both thecontrolcableand the auger drivebelt stretching due to wear,periodicadjustmentsmay be necessary.If the auger seemsto hesitatewhenrotating,proceedas follows: Theupper hole in the controlhandle providesfor an adjustmentin cabletension.Toadjust,disconnectthe end of controlcablefrom the bottomholein the controlhandleand reinsertit in the upper hole. Insertthe cablefrom theoutsideas shownin Figure17.
REPLACING AUGER PADDLES The snowthrowerauger'srubberpaddlesare subjectto wearand shouldbe replacedifany signsof excessivewearare present. Do NOTallowthe auger'srubberpaddlesto wearto the pointwhere Iportionsof the metalauger itselfcancome in contactwith the pavelment. Doingsocan resultin seriousdamageto yoursnowthrower. Tochangethe rubberpaddles,proceedas follows: 1. Removethe existingrubberpaddlesby unscrewingthe selftappingscrewswhich securethemto theauger.See Figure20. / ....... " / +, ............
If the snowthrowerwillnot be usedfor30 daysor longer,or if it is the end of the snowseasonwhenthe last possibilityof snowis gone,the equipmentneedsto be storedproperly.Followstorageinstructionsbelowto ensuretop performancefrom the snowthrowerfor manymoreyears. PREPARING PREPARING ENGINE Whenstoringthe snowthrowerin an unventilatedor metal storage shed,careshouldbe taken to rustprooftheequipment.Using a light oil or silicone,coat theequipment,especiallyanychains, springs,bearingsand cables.
