Installation
Load Unit installation consists of these four major tasks —
• Inspect for Shipping Damage
• Unpack and Move the Platen
• Install the Crosshead Assembly
• Make Connections, Bleed Lifts, Tighten Columns
Special equipment needed —
• An overhead crane and lifting slings or chains capable of lifting the load unit
• Torque wrenches: 322.21 – 700 lbf·ft (950 N·m) capacity
322.31 – 1400 lbf·ft (1900 N·m) capacity
322.41 – 1400 lbf·ft (1900 N·m) capacity
• Molykote G-n paste
Inspect for Shipping Damage
Look for the following:
• Scratches in the load unit or lift cylinder columns
• Damaged electrical connections
• Damaged hydraulic connections
• Dents and other structural damage
• Torn, kinked, or breaking hoses
Report any damage found to both the carrier and MTS. In the U.S. and Canada,
call the MTS HELPLine at 1-800-328-2255. Elsewhere, contact your local MTS
office.
