6.16.2 Charge-air coolant Draining
Preconditions
Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
Spare parts

Sealing ring
WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
Let the engine cool down.
Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
Charge-air coolant Draining
1. Provide an appropriate container to drain the
coolant into.
2. Turn breather valve of filler neck on coolant
expansion tank counterclockwise to first stop
and allow pressure to escape.
3. Continue to turn breather valve counterclockwise
and remove.
4. Draw off precipitated corrosion inhibitor oil from
the expansion tank through filler neck.
5. Open drain plugs and drain coolant at the
fo
llowing points:
at the LT cooling pump;
•atthe
coolant line (customer’s equipment).
6. Draining of residual coolant:
at charge-air cooler.
7. Screw in dr
ain plugs with new sealing rings.
8. Fit breather valve onto filler neck and close it.
