6.21.2 ECU and connectors cleaning

Preconditions

• Engine is stopped and starting disabled.

Isopropyl alcohol

ECU and connectors cleaning

1. Remove coarse dirt from housing surface using a

cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

2. Remove dirt from surface of connectors (1),

connector sockets and shrink sleeves (2) using a

cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

3. Check legibility of cable labels. Clean or replace

illegible labels.

Cleaning severely contaminated connectors

on ECU

1. Use connector pliers (2) to disengage bayonet

union nut (4) and withdraw connector (3).

2. Clean connector housings, connector socket

housings (1) and all contacts with isopropyl

alcohol.

3. When connectors, sockets and all contacts

are dry: Install connectors and check plug-in

connection on ECU (→ Page 6 – 65).
