Adjusting valve-bridge balance
Note: Not applicable for engines with flying valve
bridge.
1. Hold valve bridge (1) firmly in position with
open-end spanner and release locknut (2).
2. Use feeler gauge to determine the distance
between valve bridge and rocker arm.
3. Place one feeler gauge (of the determined
value) each between valve bridge and the
two valve-stem ends (A) and (B).
4. Turn adjusting screw so that both feeler
gauges can be just pulled through.
5. Hold adjusting screw securely in position
with Allen key and fit locknut by hand on
valve bridge.
6. Replace or rectify adjusting screws which
do not move freely.
7. Tighten locknut (2) to 35 Nm +5 Nm, hold‐
ing valve bridge (1) in position with open-
end spanner.
8. Check valve bridge balance again.
9. Adjust valve-bridge balance at two crank‐
shaft positions according to the following di‐
agram.
