In areas of high trafc, use area rugs to keep
wear to a minimum. Be sure to move the rugs
periodically to maintain an even color to your
nish. Ensure the rugs have a breathable back-
ing with a mesh grid pattern which allows the
oor to breathe and are approved for hard-
wood oor nishes.
Put mats at all entrances to keep dirt and mois-
ture off the oor. Use felt pads, wide vinyl pads
or rubber rollers on the legs of furniture.

Of high heel shoes that have lost their protec-
tive cap and small stones as they can scratch
and gouge your oor’s surface. Excessive sun-
light should be blocked with blinds or drapes.
Wet mopping and excessive water is also
harmful to your oor.
